Role Summary
The Maintenance Specialist is responsible for the repair, upkeep, and continuous improvement of all production equipment, machinery, vehicles, and facilities at Decavo. This role requires a well-rounded technical skillset spanning mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, and is critical to keeping production running safely and efficiently. The Maintenance Specialist will execute and improve upon the company's existing preventive maintenance program, coordinate equipment installations, and proactively address maintenance needs across the facility. Secondary to maintenance responsibilities, this role may also be called upon to support CNC machining and trimming operations when capacity allows or when directed by management.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled and preventive maintenance on all production equipment, machinery, and vehicles per their respective maintenance schedules, including:
- Hydraulic heated platen presses
- Industrial ovens
- CNC milling and trimming machines
- Air compressors and shop air distribution lines
- Vacuum pumps and vacuum line systems
- Paint booths and filter systems
- Downdraft tables and industrial dust collectors
- Company vehicles
- General facility systems and infrastructure
- Execute and continuously improve the company's existing preventive maintenance program, including documentation, scheduling, and recordkeeping
- Research, organize, and maintain all equipment manuals, specifications, maintenance records, and compliance schedules
- Plan and execute the logistical readiness, installation, and commissioning of new machines and equipment
- Take an active leadership role in facility layout reorganization during expansions, equipment additions, and other operational changes
- Fabricate replacement parts as needed using available shop tools and equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems; replace components or modules as required
- Install, wire, and troubleshoot electrical and electronic devices on equipment using approved standards and safety protocols
- Coordinate maintenance scheduling with production staff and supervisors to minimize downtime and disruption
- Support the calibration of equipment and tools when requested by management
- Maintain departmental housekeeping standards and adhere to all applicable safety, health, and environmental regulations
- Participate with management in strategic planning discussions regarding equipment and facility expansion
- Proactively communicate constraints, delays, or missed commitments to management
- When called upon, set up and operate CNC milling machines to machine aluminum and trim composite parts to customer tolerances
- Perform other duties as assigned
Skills & Knowledge
- Well-rounded technical proficiency in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Experience maintaining and servicing industrial equipment such as heated presses, ovens, compressors, vacuum systems, dust collectors, and paint booths
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment failures efficiently and accurately
- Familiarity with electrical wiring, conduit, and control systems using approved safety standards
- Experience executing and improving preventive maintenance programs
- Basic machining and metal fabrication skills; familiarity with CNC machine setup and operation a plus
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and ERP/accounting software
- Effective written and verbal communication skills across all departments and with outside vendors
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of relevant maintenance experience, with a solid understanding of preventive maintenance systems and electromechanical troubleshooting
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems required
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs frequently
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in environments requiring ear and respiratory protection
- Highly organized, self-managed, and able to work productively from a task list with minimal supervision
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate and address issues proactively
- Team player who communicates respectfully and collaborates effectively across the organization
- Basic English language skills with the ability to read, follow, and interpret work instructions and technical documentation
