The Warehouse manager is responsible for overseeing daily warehouse operations in a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role ensures uninterrupted production by managing inventory levels, procuring required materials, coordinating deliveries, Managing warehouse personnel, and maintaining accurate inventory records. The successful candidate will work closely with production, purchasing, vendors, and logistics providers to ensure materials are available when needed and warehouse operations run efficiently, safely, and accurately.
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations
- Manage daily warehouse activities including receiving, storage, inventory control, and material distribution for a multi-shift operation.
- Ensure production departments receive required materials, supplies, and components in a timely manner.
- Monitor warehouse workflow and staffing to meet operational demands.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe warehouse conditions in compliance with company policies and safety standards.
Inventory Management
- Develop, implement, and manage cycle count programs to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies and variances.
- Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with purchasing to prevent shortages or overstock situations.
- Verify incoming deliveries against purchase orders and receiving documentation.
Procurement & Vendor Management
- Support procurement activities by identifying material requirements and sourcing needed items.
- Prepare and maintain Requests for Proposal (RFPs) for vendors and suppliers.
- Create, process, and communicate purchase orders (POs) accurately and efficiently.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with suppliers and vendors.
- Coordinate inbound deliveries to ensure materials arrive on schedule.
Production Support
- Partner with production leadership to understand material requirements and production schedules.
- Ensure critical production materials are available to support manufacturing operations.
- Expedite urgent orders and coordinate emergency deliveries when necessary.
- Communicate potential supply chain disruptions and recommend corrective actions.
Leadership & Administration
- Manage, coach, and develop warehouse employees.
- Assign daily tasks and monitor employee performance.
- Train team members on warehouse procedures, inventory controls, and safety practices.
- Generate reports using Microsoft Excel and warehouse management systems.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory transactions, purchases, deliveries, and vendor communications.
Required
- 3+ years of warehouse experience in a high-volume manufacturing or distribution environment.
- Previous Management experience.
- Strong knowledge of inventory control and warehouse operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience creating and managing purchase orders.
- Ability to write, document, and manage Requests for Proposal (RFPs).
- Experience interacting and negotiating with vendors and suppliers.
- Ability to manage and execute cycle count programs.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to verify incoming deliveries and maintain receiving accuracy.
Preferred
- Food manufacturing or food distribution industry experience.
- Experience with ERP, MRP, or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Powered industrial truck/forklift certification or ability to become certified.
- Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and food safety standards.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in warehouse and production environments with varying temperatures.
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
