Position Overview
Requirements
- Deliver contextualized Adult Basic Education and High School Equivalency (HSE) instruction integrated with occupational training content in alignment with IET program design and NM Adult Education standards.
- Provide individualized coaching and academic support to IET participants, helping students set goals, monitor progress, address barriers, and persist through program completion.
- Coordinate with occupational instructors and workforce partners to align academic instruction with the technical content and competencies of the paired workforce training program.
- Conduct intake, assessment, and orientation activities for prospective IET participants, including reviewing eligibility requirements, administering academic assessments, and assisting with enrollment.
- Develops and adapts instructional materials, lesson plans, and learning activities that contextualize reading, writing, math, and digital literacy within the occupational training setting.
- Monitor student academic progress, attendance, and engagement, providing proactive outreach and coaching interventions for participants showing signs of risk or disengagement.
- Assist students with goal setting, career exploration, and transition planning, including support for HSE completion, credential attainment, and pathways into further education or employment.
- Advise IET students on enrollment into appropriate college-level courses and programs, helping them understand course selection, registration steps, and how their IET coursework connects to credit-bearing pathways at ENMU-Ruidoso.
- Connect participants with campus and community support resources, including financial aid, transportation assistance, childcare, and other wraparound services that support program participation and completion.
- Maintain accurate and complete participant records, including assessment results, attendance, progress benchmarks, credential attainment, and employment outcomes, in compliance with NM Adult Education and program reporting requirements.
- Participate in required NM Adult Education professional development, IET program training, and ongoing instructional improvement activities.
- Work collaboratively with the Director of Adult Education, workforce faculty, student services staff, and community partners to coordinate program delivery and support student success.
- Assist with recruitment and outreach efforts to enroll eligible adult learners into IET program cohorts, including coordination with referral partners such as America's Job Center, community organizations, and employer partners.
- Assist with preparation of program reports, data submissions, and supporting documentation required for grant compliance, program evaluation, and institutional planning.
- Serve on committees and participate in meetings, college functions, and cross-training activities that support student success and institutional goals.
- Regular and predictable attendance required
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
- Associate’s degree required in Education, or a related field
- Bilingual in English and Spanish required
- Experience in adult education, workforce training, academic coaching, student support, or a related instructional or advising role
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced program environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Adult Education, Workforce Development, or a related field
- Experience with contextualized or Integrated Education and Training (IET) instructional models
- Familiarity with NM Adult Education standards and reporting requirements
- Experience with data management systems, student information systems, or reporting tools used in adult education or workforce programs
- Experience coordinating with the workforce, occupational training, or employer partners
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of, or the ability to quickly learn, adult education instructional practices, including contextualized and integrated education and training (IET) models, ABE/HSE curriculum, and NM Adult Education standards and requirements
- Experience delivering instruction, advising students, or coaching adult learners, including individuals with varied educational backgrounds, skill levels, and life circumstances
- Familiarity with workforce development systems, occupational training programs, and career pathways relevant to the region
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with adult learners, partners, and college staff
- Ability to differentiate instruction and individualize coaching approaches to meet the needs of students at varying academic levels
- Sound judgment, professionalism, and a student-centered approach to problem solving and barrier removal
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, including experience maintaining accurate participant records and program data
- Initiative, follow-through, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities across instruction, coaching, and program coordination responsibilities
- Availability to work evenings and weekends as required by program scheduling
- Commitment to collaboration, student success, and expanding access to education and workforce opportunities for adult learners
- Experience with or willingness to learn data management systems, student information systems, and reporting tools used in adult education or workforce programs

Employee Educational Assistance Plan
Eastern New Mexico University offers a tuition waiver for regular employees and retirees. This program waives the tuition for three courses (up to nine credit hours) per semester.
