Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Low Voltage Estimator to join our growing construction team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for low voltage electrical systems, including communication, security, fire alarm, data, and audio-visual systems. Your expertise will help drive project success by ensuring precise budgeting, effective pricing strategies, and thorough review of construction drawings. The ideal candidate will possess strong electrical knowledge, construction estimating experience, and excellent negotiation skills to collaborate with clients and vendors effectively. Duties
- Review and interpret construction drawings, electrical schematics, and blueprints to develop detailed low voltage system estimates.
- Prepare comprehensive cost proposals utilizing estimating software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand project scope and specifications.
- Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions and validate project requirements for accurate estimation.
- Develop pricing strategies for electrical systems in compliance with NEC (National Electrical Code), NFPA 70 standards, and local electrical building codes.
- Manage cost control throughout the estimation process by monitoring budgets and adjusting estimates accordingly.
- Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure favorable pricing while maintaining quality standards.
- Ensure all estimates adhere to NFPA 70 compliance standards and NEC regulations for safety and code adherence.
- Review construction contracts, scope of work documents, and project specifications thoroughly before submitting proposals.
- Assist in the development of project schedules and coordinate with construction management teams to align estimates with project timelines.
Experience
- Proven experience in construction estimating with a focus on low voltage electrical systems or related fields.
- Strong knowledge of electrical blueprint reading, schematic interpretation, and construction drawing review.
- Familiarity with electrical systems including fire alarm, security, data cabling, audio-visual systems, and related infrastructure.
- Experience working on construction sites or within construction management environments is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in estimating software such as HeavyBid; experience with Bluebeam is a plus.
- Knowledge of electrical codes including NEC (National Electrical Code) and NFPA 70 compliance standards.
- Demonstrated ability to manage costs effectively while maintaining project quality and safety standards.
- Excellent negotiation skills combined with strong attention to detail in pricing and contract review.
