SEC Energy is a single-source provider of natural gas compression equipment, parts and services to all segments of the oil & gas industry. Summary:
Manages North Dakota region field and shop service area that performs on and off-site routine and call out services including installation, maintenance, and repair.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The essential job duties for this position are listed below:
- Ensures that established regulatory environmental and safety standards are maintained. Manages all activities and decisions relative to the safety of the job and the surrounding area.
- Manages/Supervises direct reports in performing their job duties in a safe and efficient manner.
- Responsibilities includes handling service contracts and directing support services
- Manages/Supervises day-to-day field operations to meet customer requirements
- Estimating and quoting of jobs for customers (with and without support)
- Monitors utilization and drives efficiency and productivity to minimize problems and downtime.
- Administers performance reviews for subordinates.
- Maintains adherence to company policies.
- Assures that machinery, equipment, and facilities are properly maintained for efficient operation.
- Schedules employees for hours required to support company contracts and monitors overtime, as required.
- Maintains good employee relations, takes proper disciplinary measures when required.
- Assures efficient and economical utilization of materials, improvement of methods, and elimination of wasteful practices within the department.
- Performs other functions/duties as required.
- Conduct duties in an ethical manner, and model ethics and compliance behaviors for others. Encourage open, transparent, factual, and respectful communication
- Establish a culture of safety, operational, and customer service excellence within the organization
- Ensure all health, safety, environmental, and human resources requirements are met to comply with federal, state, and local regulations
- Lead the respective business function in acting entrepreneurially to drive ingenuity, best practices, and best in class efficiency
- Coach, mentor, train and develop employees as required for the long-term sustainability of the business and to ensure appropriate succession planning. Establish or source appropriate training as needed to ensure the quality of the work being performed
- Establish customer and shareholder-driven financial, safety, and operational excellence goals such as for earnings, quality, and cycle time/on-time performance. Measure and monitor progress, making corrections in the respective functional area organization and processes as necessary to achieve business targets
- Establish, document, maintain, train employees on, update, and reinforce use of practical, safe, and efficient work processes that allow the business to maintain the flexibility to meet the dynamic needs of customer base.
Requirements:
Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Minimum of 8+ years natural gas compression industry experience. In-depth knowledge of natural gas engine and compressor frames.
- Caterpillar and Ariel Certification preferred.
- Previous customer-facing management experience preferred.
- Software Knowledge: SAP, MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), Adobe. Ability to learn other software in use.
- Ability to manage field services area and successfully lead direct reports to increase efficiency, production quality and volume. Able to apply principles and techniques to accomplish goals.
- Ability to plan and oversee all overhaul, repairs and maintenance of engines, compressors, pumps, turbines, and motors.
- Demonstrated communication (both written and verbal) skills
- Ability to create and maintain on-going relationships with customers and other external parties to develop business for the area.
- Ability to communicate and resolve issues in a professional and tactful manner
- Ability to handle both internal and external problems and facilitate successful outcomes.
- Performs other functions/duties as required to meet customer and company requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5-10 years of people management experience
- SAP experience preferred
- Microsoft Project

- Driving, walking, and standing frequently
- Exposure to adverse weather, cramped conditions, and some heavy lifting
- Visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment
- Occasional overnight travel may be required
