Job Summary:
Patient Services representative who is courteous, professional, and has excellent customer service skills. This position is responsible for performing a variety of general administrative support duties associated with the patient intake process and performs routine duties within the clinic. Ability to ensure all front desk needs are handled in the most expedient and professional manner.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform patient check-in at the time of visit and complete all paperwork necessary to ensure the admitting process is efficient and all clinic and regulatory processes are in compliance.
- Greet and welcome patients/visitors to the clinic in a warm, friendly manner.
- Obtain accurate patient and insurance information, collecting co-pays and deductible amounts.
- Copy/scan patient access related hardcopy materials (e.g. ID, referrals, insurance cards)
into the correct location in the electronic medical record.
- Prepare patient electronic record for patient appointments making sure all necessary information is complete including insurance eligibility verification.
- Conduct all functions associated with patient check-out including pricing services, collecting patient responsibility payments and scheduling follow-up appointments.
- Perform duties involving record filing and retrieval and assisting with the filing of registration documentation in electronic medical records.
- Answer phone calls and direct them appropriately.
- Schedule appointments according to office guidelines.
- Confirm next day appointments and alert patient of documentation that is required, including details associated with time-of-service payment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to common inquiries or complaints from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
- Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Computer Skills: Must be proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, Internet navigation, database management, desktop publishing, spreadsheet, and graphic presentation packages.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with providers, staff and the public.
- Demonstrate knowledge of clinic operational practices, procedures and standard concepts.
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic and high level of professionalism and treat all co-workers fairly, equally and without bias.
- Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within field.
- Demonstrate strong customer service skills.
- Maintain a positive, caring attitude towards patients.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma/GED
- 1-3+ years of similar experience in a clinical setting preferred
- Prior customer service experience in-person and over the telephone required
- Prior cash handing experience ideal, but not required
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting, reaching, and bending
- Prolonged periods of time working on a computer, typing, and answering phones
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
