Position Summary: The Managing Director – Investment Real Estate Finance is responsible for originating, developing, and managing commercial real estate lending relationships focused exclusively on non-owner-occupied investment properties. This individual will source and structure financing opportunities for professional real estate investors, developers, and investment sponsors, with an emphasis on single-family rental (SFR) portfolios, multifamily properties, and other income-producing residential investment assets.
The successful candidate will be a highly motivated business development professional with an established referral network of mortgage brokers, real estate investors, developers, attorneys, CPAs, and financial advisors. This position is expected to independently generate loan opportunities while maintaining exceptional credit quality and customer service.
Key Roles / Responsibilities:
- Develop new lending relationships with professional real estate investors and sponsors.
- Originate loans secured by non-owner-occupied residential investment properties.
- Build and maintain referral relationships with mortgage brokers, real estate brokers, developers, attorneys, accountants, and financial professionals.
- Structure financing solutions that meet borrower objectives while complying with company credit policies.
- Analyze borrower financial statements, rent rolls, operating statements, global cash flow, and property-level performance.
- Present lending opportunities to credit committees with comprehensive underwriting packages.
- Negotiate loan terms, pricing, collateral, guarantees, and covenant structures.
- Coordinate with underwriting, legal, closing, servicing, and asset management throughout the lending process.
- Maintain ongoing relationships with borrowers to generate repeat business and referrals.
- Monitor market conditions, interest rates, and competitive lending products.
- Represent the company at industry conferences, investor meetings, and networking events.
- Consistently meet or exceed annual production and portfolio quality goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Real Estate, or related field preferred
- Minimum of 7–10 years of commercial or investment real estate lending experience
- Proven history of originating investment real estate loans
- Existing referral network capable of generating immediate production
- Strong understanding of commercial real estate underwriting and valuation
- Ability to analyze tax returns, financial statements, rent rolls, operating statements, and borrower liquidity
- Strong knowledge of loan documentation and commercial real estate collateral
- Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities
- Self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset

- Bridge lending
- DSCR lending
- Construction lending
- Institutional investment real estate financing

- Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
- Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
- Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
