Purpose:
Coordinates aspects of care delivery for grief and loss program with an emphasis on management and growth.
Responsibilities:
Grief and loss coordination
- Assists children, family members and all contacts according to the general performance standards, demonstrating organizational values with all interactions.
- Handles intakes of families who are seeking grief and loss support services.
- Available for families in crisis; serves as a primary resource for grief & loss consultation.
- Participates in the design of new grief and loss programs and implementation in their service area.
- Provides community education as assigned for promoting strategies to deal with grief & loss.
- Leads quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives for improving care delivery.
- Creates data reports as requested for care delivery.
School coordination
- Implements and facilitates school groups within schools.
- Utilizes personalized curriculum that is tailored to support opportunities for each student’s/stakeholders needs.
- Establishes partnerships with rural school districts in need of grief and loss services.
- Develops relationships and performs close consultations/education with teachers, families, and others who support the child served.
- Establishes a systematic way to respond to students’ changing needs and circumstances with consideration of culture, community needs, and needs outlined by the program.
- Uses data to track service utilization, inform plan revisions, understand student outcomes, and catalyze or improve whole school programs focused on the non-instructional needs of students.
- Uses data to help school and municipal leaders identify and respond to gaps in service.
Other duties
- Participates in ATP fundraising events as requested.
- Actively participates in team meetings, committees and quality improvement planning and processes.
- Assists Team Director and Manager in review of programs and outcomes.
- Challenges ATP staff and stakeholders to provide innovative programming and services, excellence in care and education to families.
- Maintains database.
- Organizes supplies for school group implementation.
- Supports positive work environment with staff, interns, volunteers, and donors.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field; minimum of 2 years’ experience working with grief and loss required; 2 years’ experience in bereavement counseling preferred; experience working with children & families is a plus
- Prior experience working in a program with volunteers is preferred
- Ability to effectively interact with individuals and groups
- Ability to plan and conduct training and education programs
- Ability to work independently and exercise independent judgment
- Ability to develop relationships with other employees, patients/families, volunteers and within the community
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally, in writing and in public with individuals and groups
- Strong keyboarding and computer skills with the ability to learn work-related software
- Experience working directly or indirectly with children, teens, and/or families
- Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider certification
- Mandatory Reporter of Child and Dependent Adult abuse training certification (within 30 days of hire)
- Current driver's license and auto liability insurance
- Successful completion of pre-employment physical, drug screen, 2-step TB test, and background check
Working Conditions:
- Physical requirements: Medium work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Physical activities: bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, fingering and gripping and reaching
