This position is open to be based at a facility in our markets in Georgia, North Carolina, and Kentucky
Responsible for preventing, identifying, and resolving drug-related problems to ensure patient safety, improve patient satisfaction, optimize patient outcomes, and minimize costs. This position performs all functions of a registered pharmacist, including accurate and timely dispensing, clinical interaction with the healthcare team, patient teaching, and supervision of pharmacists and technicians. Additionally, this role manages clinical practice, including decentralized pharmacy practice, medication use systems, and patient-centered pharmacy services. In addition, this position integrates clinical pharmacy services, and pharmacy operations, ensuring medication use aligns with evidence-based best practices and regulatory standards. Responsible for educating staff, developing and enforcing institutional policies, managing resources, and participating in customer service while maintaining respectful relationships. Travel is up to 15% of the time across the region in Georgia, North Carolina, and Kentucky.
Pharmacy Practice and Clinical Management
- Manages and oversees pharmacy practice programs, directs patient care services, and medication systems to provide reliable, comprehensive, and individualized drug therapy that is aligned with patient needs, evidence-based best practices, regulatory standards, and budgetary targets.
- Effectively collaborates with other hospital departments and strategic business unit leaders to promote cooperation and efficiency in providing patient's pharmacy care needs.
- Serves as departmental resource and liaison to physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and other hospital personnel and works closely with these individuals to establish quality infrastructures utilized within the department and throughout the medical center.
Schedule and Labor Management
- Develops standards of performance to maximize staff roles in accordance with licensure.
- Manages, monitors, and evaluates staff performance in assigned pharmacy areas to ensure accuracy and quality of services, completion of all tasks, and mitigation and correction of deficiencies.
- Provides feedback and counseling regarding job performance including employee discipline if needed and completes performance appraisals for assigned employees.
- Leads recruitment, interview, and hiring processes for staff in assigned areas. Maintains competent, skilled, and cooperative staff by coordinating training for new employees, coaching and mentoring of all employees, and routine professional development for all staff.
- Develops a harmonious and satisfied staff by facilitating rewards/recognition programs and engagement initiatives and taking actions that appropriately maintain positive employee engagement.
Clinical Pharmacy Staffing
- Works as an active member of pharmacy division and multidisciplinary team to collaborate with healthcare providers and decentralized pharmacy staff, places practice priority on the delivery of patient-centered care, and provides accurate, safe, timely, and appropriate medication therapy based on patient needs.
Performance Improvement and Quality Outcomes Management
- Monitors pharmacy practice performance, patient care services, cost containment activities, and budgetary performance via objective parameters.
- Proactively uses data analysis techniques to track, monitor, and communicate the clinical quality, operational, and financial outcomes of assigned areas and to benchmark performance against internal targets and against local and national best practices.
- Identifies, resolves, and reports short- and long-term obstacles to patient care and medication safety, regulatory compliance, or stewardship of resources. Identifies practice-related issues which require evaluation and facilitates clinical research projects, quality improvement initiatives, or healthcare provider education as needed to advance practice.

Work Experience:
- 1+ of supervisory/leadership experience [Preferred]
- 3+ pgy1 & pgy 2 pharmacy residency in specialty area consistent with practice needs of institution plus contemporary hospital or specialty experience (3 years), with portfolio documenting sustained contribution to practice [Preferred]
- 3+ related experience [Preferred]
- 4+ pgy1 residency and specialty practice experience (4 years) consistent with practice needs of institution, with portfolio documenting sustained contribution to practice required [Required]
- 5+ clinical pharmacy experience in specialty practice (5 years) in a contemporary hospital setting, with portfolio documenting sustained contribution to practice [Required]
Licenses and Certifications:
- Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
- Licensed Pharmacist (RPH) [Required]
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Cert (ACLS) [Preferred]
- Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties Certification (BPS) [Preferred]
