Counselor: The school counselor works with the principal and the Coordinator of Counseling Services in carrying out the guidance and counseling program of Federal Way Public Schools. School counselors promote the success of all students through the implementation of this comprehensive school counseling program that address the academic, career, and personal/social needs of students.

STEM Tech:The STEM Lab Teacher is a certificated instructional position that facilitates hands-on, Project-Based Learning (PBL) in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. This role emphasizes delivering the engineering design process, aligning with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), and fostering 21st Century Learning skills. A key component of this position involves leading STEM investigations in the outdoor school garden, integrating authentic learning experiences that support the district's Garden to Table program and promote social-emotional learning (SEL) through collaborative, nature-based inquiry.

Certificate: A valid Washington State Teaching and Educational Staff Associate (ESA) certificate with appropriate subject area endorsements.

Preferred Endorsements: Additional Endorsements in Computer Science, Technology Education, or Instructional Technology.

Experience with a comprehensive school counseling program

Demonstrated understanding of the American School Counselor Association framework for School Counseling programs

Criminal background clearance

Valid Washington State Driver's License

Willing to learn job related computer skills

Maintain a current ESA Certificate and Washington State Teacher's Certificate

Work scheduled hours on a consistent basis

Basic Microsoft WORD and EXCEL

Database management

School board policies and procedures

Demonstrate basic knowledge of technology and willingness and ability to increase knowledge to proficiency

Organize and perform job responsibilities efficiently and independently without close supervision and able to pay strict attention to detail

Speak, read and follow written or verbal communications

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly stand and walk, bend neck and back, use hands for repetitive grasping and pushing/pulling. The employee will constantly be required to sit for extended periods of time and use a computer screen and keyboard. The employee may occasionally be required to squat, kneel, and use hands for fine manipulation, climb stairs/ladder, lift and reach overhead, and lift/carry. The employee must constantly lift/carry up to 5 pounds and must frequently lift /carry up to 10 pounds. The employee will occasionally lift/carry a maximum of 20 lbs. The employee is occasionally required to push/pull a maximum weight of 100 pounds.
