Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, experienced, and clinically skilled Dual Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C, PMHNP-BC) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join our multidisciplinary team at our Residential Mental Health Treatment Facility located in Alpharetta, Georgia.
This is a full-time, in-person, 1099 Independent Contractor position providing comprehensive psychiatric assessment, medication management, and ongoing treatment for adults receiving residential behavioral healthcare. The ideal candidate is committed to delivering evidence-based, patient-centered care while collaborating closely with physicians, nursing, therapists, and leadership to support patient stabilization, symptom management, and long-term recovery.

Clinical ResponsibilitiesPatient Assessment & Treatment
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments.
- Establish DSM-5 diagnoses and develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans.
- Provide psychiatric follow-up appointments and medication management.
- Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications within scope of practice.
- Evaluate medication effectiveness, side effects, and patient response to treatment.
- Address medical concerns within scope of practice (FNP-C providers).
Clinical Care
- Evaluate patients experiencing acute psychiatric symptoms and behavioral health concerns.
- Provide crisis assessment, intervention, and stabilization when clinically indicated.
- Collaborate with the Medical Director regarding complex psychiatric presentations.
- Participate in admission evaluations, treatment planning, and discharge planning.
- Educate patients regarding psychiatric diagnoses, medications, treatment goals, and recovery planning.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration
- Participate in Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IDT) meetings.
- Collaborate closely with therapists, nursing staff, case management, and executive leadership.
- Communicate changes in patient condition and treatment recommendations promptly.
- Foster a collaborative, trauma-informed, patient-centered treatment environment.
Documentation & Compliance
- Complete timely, accurate documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Maintain documentation supporting medical necessity and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure compliance with Georgia regulations, accreditation standards, and facility policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based clinical practices.
QualificationsRequired
- Active, unrestricted Georgia APRN license with dual certification as Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C) and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC), or an active, unrestricted Georgia Physician Assistant (PA-C) license.
- Active DEA registration or ability to obtain prior to employment.
- Minimum of two years of psychiatric clinical experience.
- Strong psychiatric assessment, diagnostic, and clinical decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration abilities.
- Ability to work independently while functioning as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team.
Preferred
- Experience in residential mental health treatment, inpatient psychiatry, crisis stabilization, or other higher-acuity behavioral health settings.
- Experience treating individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
- Experience utilizing electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
