Middle and Upper School Health Teacher – School Year 2026-2027

Position Summary: The Middle School Science Teacher will teach grade-level science classes to middle school grades 5-8. As a full-time faculty position, this role may also include serving as a student advisor and supporting a co-curricular activity by coaching a sport or engaging in another major school activity. All faculty members are expected to support activities and events that contribute to the life of the school and to attend departmental, divisional, and all-school meetings after school.

The following are essential duties and functions of this role. Duties can change and others may be assigned:
- Teach the equivalent of four sections of Health, plus advisory
- Design and deliver engaging, standards-aligned health education lessons for students in grades 5-8 and 10
- Demonstrate mastery of curriculum; will use a variety of instructional techniques to help students learn subject matter and skills that promote a lifetime of wellness
- Engage in professional development and keep current with best practices
- Foster a positive learning environment
- High emotional intelligence, interpersonal skills, adaptive teaching methods, behavior management, and a strong focus on social-emotional learning (SEL)
- Attend and contribute to meetings during the school day and after school, which includes weekly faculty meetings
- Attend community events throughout the school year
Education, Competencies and Experience:
- An undergraduate degree is required, ideally in Health Education, School Health, Public Health or a similar discipline; a master’s degree is preferred
- Have completed at least three years of teaching health education in a school setting, or transferable experience, preferably in an independent school
- Strong understanding of adolescent psychology, developmental stages, and the social-emotional needs of middle and upper school students
- Effective communicator with excellent written and verbal skills
- A deep interest in our Quaker mission, educational philosophy, and DEI initiatives
- Creative and current with best practices in teaching
- Excited and joyful about the prospect of teaching and inspiring middle school students to engage in our core educational practices

Salary: The salary range is expected to be $73,000 to $80,000. The actual compensation, will be based on the candidates relevant and transferable years of service, and other factors, which include internal peer equity, the market and other organizational considerations. The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
