Job Summary
GateWay Community College is now hiring a great new role!
GateWay Community College is seeking a Project Manager (Member Engagement) for its Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM)-oriented Makerspace (PHOENIX FORGE) in downtown Phoenix. This 22,500-square-foot facility is open to the public as well as college students, faculty, and the staff of the Maricopa County Community College District.
Under General Supervision of the Project Manager Senior (Director), this position will lead the Member Services area of the makerspace, manage the day-to-day operations, space use, and programming of the makerspace. This position will be a main point of contact for incoming and outgoing messaging related to makerspace happenings and events. The Project Manager (Member Engagement Manager) will serve as a direct link between the makerspace and our growing member base and community partners.

Essential Functions
40% - Oversees Member Services area. Assists in developing member services policies and processes including new processes to achieve member services area objectives, schedules, milestones, and overall needs. Maintains Makerspace Management Software (EZFacility) including member records, reservation/class/event scheduling, and billing. Manages Member access control system.
30% - Monitors makerspace messaging/communication platforms including email, social media, Google business profile etc. Develops internal communications to ensure member base and community are informed on all makerspace activities, events, and happenings. Coordinates with College Marketing Department on external marketing to ensure branding and identity consistency.
20% - Plans and Coordinates multiple special events (appx 10-12 of various scale) throughout year including, scheduling, messaging, attendance tracking, vendor coordination, and reporting.
10% - Supervises up to 4 part-time staff. Participates in hiring, plans, organizes, assigns, reviews and evaluates work of assigned staff. Other Duties as Assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, business or public administration and of two (2) years of experience providing journey level project management coordination and assistance including preparing reports, maintaining records, tracking budgets, performing research and assisting with project communication.
OR
An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with or supporting makerspaces, educational institutions, workforce or economic development initiatives, community partnerships, or the Phoenix-area entrepreneurial and creative ecosystem.
- Experience using Facility Management tools (Such as EZFacility) for member management, space planning and reservations, point of sale (including cash handling, inventory, billing), and record keeping
- Experience working in a public-sector organization with multiple departments, stakeholders, or organizational layers
- Experience providing customer service, communicating effectively through digital and in-person channels, utilizing workplace technology, and maintaining accuracy in detail-oriented tasks

One (1) year full-time relevant MCCCD experience during the previous two (2) years

- May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen
