Job Responsibilities
Work Schedule: Full-time (40 hours per week)
Job Responsibilities
- Conduct initial WIC nutrition assessments and develop individualized nutrition care plans using client-centered goals.
- Monitor client progress and update nutrition care plans as appropriate.
- Provide medical nutrition therapy as prescribed through referrals.
- Provide individual and group nutrition education, including breastfeeding education and support.
- Conduct nutrition counseling for high-risk WIC participants.
- Educate pregnant women, new mothers, and families on nutrition, breastfeeding, infant feeding, healthy lifestyles, and parenting-related nutrition topics.
- Monitor the growth and development of infants and children and coordinate referrals to appropriate healthcare providers or specialists when indicated.
- Coordinate client services and referrals with healthcare providers, community agencies, and other Health Department programs.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and case reviews.
- Develop, review, and/or approve nutrition education materials.
- Conduct community nutrition assessments and assist with identifying local nutrition needs.
- Maintain accurate client documentation in accordance with USDA WIC Program policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of the WIC Program.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in dietetics, human nutrition, foods and nutrition, nutrition education, food systems management, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university; AND verification statement of completion of a didactic program accredited by The Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics.
