The Air Conditioning Technology instructor position in the School of Industrial Technologies and Professional Services and will report to the Division Chair. The instructor will prepare and deliver lectures and/or lab course material; prepare lesson plans for classroom instruction; evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives; will prepare and maintain all required documentation and administrative reports; will ensure that safety and security requirements are met in the training area; will display a high level of effort and commitment to performing work; operate effectively within the organizational structure; demonstrate trustworthiness and responsible behavior; assist with recruitment retention and job placement efforts. Will work closely with the program director and perform other job assignments and duties assigned by Division Chair.
- Prepares lesson plans for classroom and laboratory instruction for specified courses.
- Organize and conduct classes using a variety of learning experiences and activities.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude toward student learning and course progress.
- Demonstrate current and comprehensive knowledge of the subject areas and courses to be taught, including labs.
- Accurately and timely, submit required reports to the students and college.
- Instruct classes in Air Conditioning Technology utilizing techniques and knowledge of the discipline-facilitating student learning.
- Provide appropriate means to assess student progress and provide timely feedback on lectures and labs.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve educational objectives.
- Strong oral communication skills, professional attitude, desire to help students succeed in their career goals.
- Strive to enhance instructional and learning performances.
- Ability to work well with GPTC students, people of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.
- Evaluates students’ progress in attaining their respective goals and objectives.
- Communicates students’ progress to student and appropriate personnel and according to established guidelines.
- Accurately record pertinent information in students’ records as necessary.
- Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports to department and college.
- Complies and submits reports in a timely manner, meeting all GPTC deadlines.
- Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the Air Conditioning Technology lab and classroom training areas.
- Works with Program Chair to plan and conduct outreach to the business community with the goal to develop partnerships and delivery of college services locally and regionally.
- Assist in the recruitment and registration of prospective and enrolled students.
- Maintains workforce and technical knowledge of advanced manufacturing programs including, Industry Certifications.
- Teach courses in areas/departments where skillsets may be of need
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s degree from a nationally or regionally accredited college or university in
- Air Conditioning Technology or a closely related field. (and)
- Five of the last seven years of work experience in Air Conditioning Technology or a closely related field
- Must demonstrate excellent written and oral communications and interpersonal skills. A flexible work schedule is necessary, as classes will be taught during day and evening.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Accredited Bachelors’ degree in Air Conditioning Technology or related area, with 3 to 5-years' work experience or 1-3 years of related teaching experience of courses in a technical college environment.
Knowledge of Blackboard (Learning Management System) is desirable
Work Schedule
This is a full-time faculty position. Teaching assignments may include day, evening, weekend, online, dual enrollment, and multi-campus instruction based on institutional needs.
Work Environment
Faculty work in classroom, virtual, and office settings that support teaching, student engagement, and academic collaboration. The position requires regular interaction with students, faculty, staff, and community partners.
Physical Requirements
The position requires the ability to communicate effectively, use technology and instructional equipment, move throughout instructional spaces, and perform routine educational and administrative responsibilities.
