Position Title: Environmental Services Manager
Division: Clinical Care
Reports To: Sr Director of Quality Assurance & Accreditation
Job Summary:
This position is responsible for providing supervision, guidance, and direction to the environmental services staff,
providing environmental services, and ensuring high quality services are provided throughout the Oyate Health
Center (OHC) and other designated buildings.
Essential Functions
The following functions are fundamental to the position and are required of all incumbents, with or without reasonable accommodation. These functions define the role and are not an exhaustive list of all duties.

Hires, trains, assigns, schedules, directs, supervises, evaluates, and disciplines personnel.
Coordinates the day-to-day environmental services and functions; ensures proper cleaning of all clinics, dental and laboratory areas, including specialized sterile-area janitorial work, in accordance with established standards; periodically inspects areas for overall cleanliness and orderliness; and, maintains checklists or other tools to monitor the work performance and quality control for routing cleaning schedule to meet infection control requirements.
Evaluate environmental services by reviewing work assignments and completion of assigned duties and ensure processes are established to ensure quality work.
Determine staff assignments based upon evaluation of needs.
Manages work schedules, including approving timesheets and scheduling time off, and takes appropriate actions to assure adequate environmental services staff for each shift.
Informs employees about the policies, procedures and goals of management related to the work of the department.
Ensures the environmental services staff complies with Infection Control practices specific to environment of care requirements; works collaboratively with the Infection Control Officer to ensure environmental services staff are trained and knowledgeable about practices designed to prevent the spread of infection in a health care setting.
Actively participates in policy and procedure development and implementation.
Prepares an annual budget to ensure adequate operating supplies, equipment, personnel, and other costs per fiscal year.
Manages and purchases environmental services supplies; and interacts with vendors.
Assures accurate and timely submission of performance evaluations and operational reports as required.
Orientates new staff members on Infection Control procedures, HAZCOM Program, SDS usage, location of eyewash stations, fire exit procedures, location of fire extinguishers, etc.
Performs environmental services functions, as described in the Environmental Technician Job Description.
Must comply with federal laws and regulations as required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Performs related duties.
Performs the core responsibilities of the position accurately, timely, and in accordance with established standards.
Maintains regular and reliable attendance consistent with the position’s schedule and operational needs.
Communicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders as required by the role.
Adheres to all applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Utilizes required systems, tools, and technology necessary to perform the job.
Education/Experience
Education/Relevant Experience:
Completion of a formal training program or an associate’s degree and one (1) year of relevant experience; or a high school diploma or GED and three (3) years of relevant experience; a high school diploma or GED may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
A minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience.

This position requires the ability to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation. Physical demands and work environment may include:
Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and repetitive motion throughout the workday.
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment, supplies, linen carts, waste containers, and other materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance.
Manual dexterity sufficient to operate custodial equipment, cleaning tools, and chemical dispensing systems.
Ability to communicate effectively through speaking, hearing, reading, and writing.
Ability to safely operate powered floor equipment, vacuums, carpet extractors, buffers, burnishers, and other environmental services equipment.
Regular exposure to cleaning chemicals, disinfectants, dust, dirt, odors, bodily fluids, infectious materials, and other environmental hazards common to healthcare settings.
Potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens, communicable diseases, and biohazardous waste while performing assigned duties.
Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, masks, gowns, eye protection, and other safety equipment, in accordance with organizational policies and infection prevention standards.
Work may occur in patient care areas, clinics, offices, common areas, restrooms, storage rooms, and other healthcare environments.
Ability to work safely and effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail, cleanliness standards, and infection prevention protocols.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities, respond to urgent cleaning needs, and complete assigned tasks within established timeframes.
This position also requires compliance with all applicable safety, infection prevention, and employee health requirements established by the organization.
