Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Concrete Estimator to join our growing team in Houston. This is a critical role responsible for developing accurate, competitive bids on concrete scopes, with a strong focus on multifamily projects. The ideal candidate brings deep field knowledge, sharp takeoff skills, and a proven track record of winning work in the commercial concrete market.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for commercial concrete scopes including structural concrete, slab on grade foundations, flatwork, and site concrete
Review plans, specifications, and project documents to identify scope, potential risks, and VE options
Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes
Coordinate with project managers and field superintendents to ensure estimate accuracy and constructability
Track bid results and maintain a database of unit costs and historical pricing
Attend pre-bid meetings and site walks as needed
Build and maintain relationships with general contractors, developers, and owners
Qualifications
5+ years of concrete estimating experience in commercial or multifamily construction
Demonstrated experience on multifamily projects (mid-rise, garden-style, podium, or wrap-style preferred)
Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., On-Screen Takeoff, Measure Square, PlanSwift, or similar)
Strong understanding of concrete scopes, materials, labor, and subcontractor markets
Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and civil drawings
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
