H2C is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Compliance Specialist who will provide environmental field support for the 200 West Tank Farms Operations team with the following: SST and DST Tank Farms, Tank Ventilation Systems, Interim Surface Barriers, Evapotranspiration Basins, Preventive Maintenance, and Support Buildings.
Key responsibilities include:
Regulatory & Permit Compliance
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and requirements, including RCRA, WAC 173-303, Air Operating Permit, NEPA, and DOE directives.
- Provide day-to-day environmental support to ensure compliance with environmental policies, requirements, and procedures.
- Participate in inspections, assessments, work planning, and environmental decision-making processes.
- Prepare records/documentation for regulatory inspections or document requests.
- Review and approve technical documents such as engineering designs, reports, calculations, specifications, work packages, procedures, control plans, site evaluations, and excavation permits.
- Oversee field activities to ensure activities are compliant with current permits and other regulatory requirements. This may require the donning of personal protective equipment appropriate for the hazards (e.g., respiratory equipment).
- Provide Environmental on-call support and issue regulatory notifications, as required.
- Assist in developing tools and processes to verify compliance with requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned or delegated by management, commensurate with training and qualifications
Required Qualifications
Grade 18:
BA/BS in Environmental Science, Engineering or related discipline and six (6) years relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Grade 19:
BA/BS in Environmental Science, Engineering or related discipline and eight (8) years relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Note the essential duties for this grade level are like those of the previous grade level;
however the scope of responsibility is larger, and the expected level of performance is increased.
Desired Qualifications
* Knowledge of radioactive and WA mixed waste practices and regulations, (e.g., Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Toxic Substances Control Act, etc.)
- Experience in regulatory inspections, field compliance, and negotiations with external stakeholders.
- Sound judgment, transparency, and a commitment to safe, compliant work practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to communicate with multiple disciplines (Operations, Project Management, Construction, Engineering, etc.), peers, and management.
Compensation & Benefits
In accordance with the company's philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, H2C takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial grade and salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate's qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made at the appropriate grade level and within the targeted hiring range posted according to these factors. Note a candidate's prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.
Hiring Range Minimum: $109,013
Hiring Range Maximum: $151,038
