Surgical Oncologist, Sarcoma
Department of Surgery
Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians (HMFP) at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC)
The Division of Surgical Oncology in the Department of Surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) and Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians (HMFP), in partnership with Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI), seek an experienced surgical oncologist to join our sarcoma program. The successful applicant will be a fellowship-trained, board certified/eligible academic surgical oncologist with outstanding technical skills and demonstrated experience in the surgical management of the full range of sarcoma subtypes, including soft tissue sarcomas of the extremity, trunk, and retroperitoneum. A strong commitment to multidisciplinary collaboration is essential, working closely with colleagues in medical oncology, radiation oncology, orthopedic oncology, plastic surgery, radiology, and pathology. The role offers access to the substantial clinical and research resources of BIDMC and the ability to partner with DFCI's extensive sarcoma research and clinical trials programs, and provides opportunities for academic and programmatic growth.
Experienced candidates are preferred; exceptionally promising new fellowship graduates may be considered. Responsibilities include direct patient care, teaching of surgery residents and medical students, and clinical or outcomes research as appropriate. Appointment as Assistant or Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School will be commensurate with experience, training and achievements in addition to teaching activities.
As a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, BIDMC and the Department of Surgery provide a clinically advanced and supportive academic environment for residents, fellows, and faculty. We are also proud and excited to be an integral part of the landmark collaboration among Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI), Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), and Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians (HMFP) to establish New England's only freestanding 300 bed adult inpatient cancer hospital. The collaboration will provide unparalleled opportunities for surgery and other physician specialties to be part of DFCI's internationally recognized cancer team. This recruitment is a key part of this collaboration which is expected to drive substantial increases in oncology referral volume across all disease sites, including sarcoma.

Pay Range:
$328,800 - $670,900The base pay range reflects what Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (HMFP) reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this role at the time of posting and may be modified from time to time. Actual compensation within this range may be determined based on several factors, including academic appointment, work experience, specialty training, geography of work location, anticipated productivity, FTE basis, and role expectations. In addition to base compensation, this role may be eligible for performance-based incentives, which may include bonuses for productivity and quality HMFP also offers a comprehensive and generous employee benefits program to eligible employees, including health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, as well as retirement plan(s) with employer contributions.
