Job Purpose
Consult, architect, design, implement, and support advanced technology infrastructure solutions, with primary emphasis on enterprise network field engineering, routing, switching, wireless, SD-WAN, and security edge technologies.
Essential Functions
- Consult with customers and internal teams to understand business requirements, current network environments, technical constraints, and migration objectives; translate those requirements into practical implementation plans and field-ready designs.
- Develop network designs, implementation plans, Statements of Work, migration plans, equipment configurations, test plans, and documentation for advanced infrastructure projects.
- Independently configure, stage, deploy, troubleshoot, and validate network equipment and services across primary technologies including Arista platforms, SD-WAN / VeloCloud, Cisco, Palo Alto, routing, switching, and wireless.
- Lead and supervise field installation activities, coordinate project cutovers, manage migration from legacy to new network equipment, and ensure customer services are functioning as expected after implementation.
- Provide technical feedback to product management, operations, project management, and sales engineering based on field implementation experience, customer requirements, and emerging technology needs.
Education
Four years of College resulting in a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
Experience
- Over 10 years in related field.
- Proven results-based work experience in network engineering, field implementation, infrastructure design, or equivalent / related technical field.
Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Advanced route / switch experience, including enterprise routing protocols, Layer 2 / Layer 3 design, VLANs, high availability, migration planning, and production cutover execution.
- Strong hands-on experience with Arista, SD-WAN / VeloCloud, Cisco, and Palo Alto platforms.
- Strong wireless implementation experience, including site readiness, configuration, validation, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to independently configure and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, wireless systems, and related network services.
- Ability to interpret network diagrams, scopes of work, customer requirements, and implementation plans, then convert them into successful field deployment.
- Experience leading technical cutovers, coordinating field resources, validating service restoration, documenting results, and handing off completed work to operational support teams.
- Strong customer-facing communication skills with the ability to explain technical recommendations, implementation risks, and project status clearly.
- Certifications or equivalent experience in route / switch, wireless, Arista, Cisco, Palo Alto, or SD-WAN technologies preferred.
- Experience with security, unified communications, cloud applications, virtualization, or data center technologies is desirable but secondary to core networking and field implementation experience.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position does not have direct employee supervisory responsibilities but may provide technical direction to field engineers, contractors, project teams, and supporting technical resources during implementation and cutover activities.
Work Environment
Daytime hours — must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays to complete projects, implementations, migrations, and customer cutovers as needed.
Salary Range: $120k-$180k
