The Highline Public Schools Student Learning Department is seeking a Central Office Specialist (World Language) to join our team of educators for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year!
SUMMARY: The Central Office Specialist is an accomplished teacher who serves in a leadership role at the system level. A specialist provides expert consultation through facilitating collaboration, instructional coaching, and serving as a system leader across a variety of roles. The Central Office Specialist sees their ongoing learning and development as essential to achieve equitable results for all students.
PROFILE:Central Office Specialists provide instructional guidance, professional learning, and program implementation across the system. This position focuses on secondary World Language. In addition to supporting World Language instruction, this role includes a major role of implementing a World Language Credit by Proficiency testing program for secondary students. This position includes content-specific leadership roles including making recommendations on materials, course design, and updating guidance as policy and pedagogy evolves. Additionally, this role support dual language and multilingual programming.
The World Language Specialist will have a strong background in designing and facilitating professional development, consulting with schools, and supporting ongoing, job-embedded adult learning. The ideal candidate will have experience in instructional coaching for World Language teachers and a strong understanding of equitable systems practices, including the use of data, instructional differentiation, and support for high-functioning teams that engage in collaborative planning, analysis of student work, and continuous improvement.
The candidate will be a systems thinker: Collaborative, reflective, and skilled at navigating change. They will demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills and the ability to be adaptive and responsive to both systemwide and school-level needs. Additionally, they will apply an anti-racist lens to innovative learning practices, instructional materials, professional learning structures, and coaching. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience designing and facilitating adult learning that advances equitable outcomes in science education and builds educator capacity to provide rigorous, identity-affirming learning experiences for every student.
A successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience, significant experience with large scale assessment administration, heritage world language instruction, and standards based instruction. This position requires a World Language endorsement in Spanish and ELL.
