Job Summary
Candidate will assist the Chief Operations Officer with all aspects of the maintenance of school district equipment and facilities.
Responsibilities
- · Interviews and recommends to the Chief Operations Officers maintenance personnel in accordance with OAPSE contract
- · Continually conducts inspections of all buildings and property to evaluate maintenance conditions
- · Analyze work methods with a view towards improving building maintenance services and the performance and utilization of materials and employees’ time
- · Plans and directs in-service training programs for new and existing maintenance staff
- · Reviews and evaluates performance of maintenance employees on an annual basis
- · Test new products and procedures for applicability to the school system
- · Conducts fire and safety inspections of all schools at regular intervals
- · Maintains inventory and orders maintenance supplies/equipment in accordance with board policy and procedures
- · Draws up a preliminary budget for review by the Chief Operations Officer for maintenance supplies and equipment
- · Administers Board of Education policy and negotiated agreement with maintenance staff
- · Assigns maintenance staff duties and work orders as received from building administrators and the Chief Operations Officer, creates and manages expectations for daily duties
- · Collaborates daily and works cooperatively with district administrators, Custodial, HVAC, and Warehouse Coordinators for the advancement of the District's mission
- · Maintain all safety and code requirements of the federal, state, and local board of education guidelines
- · Instruct maintenance workers on proper methods of procedure, and proper use of tools in electrical repair work
- · Order and account for material and labor relative to assignments
- · Repair and recommend supplies and equipment for door and bathroom partition hardware
- · Conduct routine and periodic inspections of school and facilities as part of a preventative maintenance program
- · Ensure the care, condition, appearance, repair, or replacement of all physical equipment, buildings, facilities and grounds
- · Ability to work effectively with others and communicate ideas/directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing
- · Effective and active listening skills for organizational and problem-solving skills
- · Basic understanding of electricity, plumbing, welding, carpentry, roofing and glazing
- · Training in the proper care and storage of chemicals, (e.g., hazards communication training)
- · Ability to read and understand verbal and written instructions, written warnings, and labels
- · Ability to operate machinery
- · Ability to distinguish colors for electrical wiring purposes
- · Training in OSHA/PERRP rules and regulations
- · Operate necessary equipment for successful job completion
- · 24-hour call for emergency and security duties on rotation as scheduled by district
- · Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue
- · Occasional operation of a vehicle in inclement weather conditions, i.e., must be prepared to come to school on all scheduled work days including calamity days
- · Occasional evening/weekend work
- · Frequent requirement to work near moving mechanical parts, e.g., drill press, circular saw, table saw, hand tools
- · Occasional requirement to work in high places
- · Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic, dangerous, or caustic chemicals, e.g., chlorine, asbestos, welding dust
- · Occasional exposure to loud noises, e.g., power tools
- · Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Experience or knowledge of all building trade skills; including experience in a supervisory capacity; Has previous maintenance experience in a hands on capacity
· HVAC or any equivalent combination of experience and training
· Valid driver’s license
· Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate
Pay: From $75,000.00 per year
