Currently, we are looking for a Billing Specialist II in our Detroit or Chicago office. In addition to our Detroit and Chicago offices, we have offices in Grand Rapids, Lansing, Ann Arbor, Bloomfield Hills, Kalamazoo, and Washington D.C. With more than 350 attorneys working in 60 different areas of concentration, Honigman provides timely and cost-effective counsel to clients in numerous industries.
JOB SUMMARY
The Billing Specialist II manages the full legal billing lifecycle for assigned attorneys and clients, ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely invoicing while maintaining exceptional client service and collaboration across the firm.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Generate, review, and prepare legal invoices in accordance with client billing guidelines and fee arrangements.
- Generate pre-bills, make edits, finalize invoices, and distribute bills to clients.
- Maintain billing records, adjustments, and dispute resolution documentation.
- Utilize Aderant, BillBlast, and related legal billing systems.
- Process and submit e-billed invoices through BillBlast.
- Manage reimbursable expenses, disbursements, and billable costs.
- Prepare billing and aging reports for attorneys.
- Respond promptly to billing inquiries and discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate client matter and billing databases.
- Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff to resolve billing issues.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, IT, related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3+ years of law firm billing experience.
- Knowledge of electronic billing processes and troubleshooting.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Aderant and BillBlast or eBilling Hub preferred.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong client service orientation and teamwork skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and professional presence.

Pay Range and Compensation Package
Honigman provides a generous total compensation package, which includes comprehensive health and well-being benefits, as well as 401k and profit sharing. The anticipated annual pay range for this role is $60,000 to $70,000 (non-exempt). The actual offered pay rate will be determined based on various factors, including qualifications, experience, geographic location, education, external market data, and internal equity considerations.
