The Food Program Supervisor works with the food team, volunteers, and clients at our no cost food assistance markets. Hopelink provides food assistance to mitigate hunger and support basic food security for low-income households in North and East King County.
The Food Program Supervisor provides coordination of the food program at a specific center; provides guidance, direction, and supervision to volunteer staff. Responsible for weekly ordering of fresh and non-perishable food from multiple sources, maintains Hopelink Markets inventory and overall cleanliness of the markets. Performs client intake, determines client eligibility, and provides appropriate information and referrals. The Food Program Supervisor provides leadership for the volunteer staff and sets the tone for culturally competent and client-focused customer service for all food market participants.
Program Supervisors-Food are assigned to support one or more Hopelink sites based on client and organizational needs. For example, Friday work site needs are in Kirkland location.

- Experience with supervision in a multi-purpose facility or program related to community services.
- Experience working with low-income families is helpful.
- Intermediate level proficiency in MS Office suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Lists, SharePoint, and general inventory software, etc.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds repetitively required.
- Experience with a trauma-informed approach to service and a commitment to Hopelink’s mission and diversity, equity, and inclusion (training provided).
- Strong commitment to customer service with de-escalation or conflict resolution skills.
- Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance.
- Program Supervisors-Food are assigned to support one or more Hopelink sites based on client and organizational needs. Local site travel required and mileage reimbursement offered.
Examples of what you will be doing:
- Responsible for the operation of Hopelink Markets (daytime & evening distributions), including set-up, operation and clean-up. The occurrence of Hopelink Markets schedules varies by center and Food Program Supervisors may provide coverage at other centers. The schedule will include regular evenings and occasional weekends.
- Actively participate in supporting a team culture which is collaborative, flexible, supportive and client and mission focused.
- Maintain food inventory, knowledgeable (or interested in learning) about current food supplies, rotation of stock and safety in the workplace.
- Train, organize, assign, and supervise volunteers. Partner with manager and volunteer program to ensure necessary support of food market operations.
- Ensure volunteer staff are engaged, motivated, supported, and properly trained on safety procedures, food market best practices, and client-focused customer service.
- Work closely with volunteers to resolve issues; provide volunteer performance training/guidance as necessary and partner with Food Program Manager to resolve escalated issues.
- Utilize client management database to accurately record services.
- Responsible for weekly ordering of fresh and non-perishable food from multiple sources.
- Complete data-entry accurately and consistently to all relevant reporting sites.
- Supervise and oversee food pick-ups at grocery stores; act as backup driver as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and order in the food market.
How you will be compensated: Hopelink is proud to provide meaningful paid time away from work and an affordable, comprehensive benefits package.
- Compensation: $27.39
- Up to 10 paid vacation and sick days annually and 10 paid holidays, pro-rated to part-time hours
- Plus, up to 7 paid float days, part time pro-rated available to use immediately; dependent on hire date and hours/week
