Summary/Objective:
The Houston Astros are looking for a part-time Social Media Specialist to support the execution, quality control, and coordination of the Houston Astros’ social media presence. This role plays a key part in real-time content publishing during games, maintaining accuracy across platforms, and supporting training efforts for social media staff.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

- Provide real-time social media support during home games, including:
- Publishing content across Astros social media platforms
- Clipping and distributing highlights and key in-game moments
- Writing, editing, and optimizing captions consistent with brand voice
- Tagging players, partners, and relevant accounts to enhance engagement
- Review social media content for accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to brand guidelines.
- Support and assist with the onboarding and training of Social Media staff, ensuring alignment with established Astros social media practices, workflows, content standards, brand guidelines and best practices.
- Provide occasional remote coverage for away games, collaborating closely with the Social Media Coordinator to ensure consistency and alignment with internal stakeholders.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Strong interpersonal skills – ability to connect with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- High proficiency in Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn, other emerging platforms.
- Proficiency in photo editing and fundamental design tasks in Photoshop, understanding of Adobe Premier is preferred. Video shooting and/or editing a plus.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Work Environment
This position operates primarily in a stadium environment, with job duties and responsibilities performed both indoors and outdoors. Employees will be regularly exposed to varying weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold, rain, etc. The noise level is generally moderate but can increase significantly during events, ranging from low to very loud depending on crowd size and stadium activity.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and focused vision. Ability to regularly work on your feet for long hours and climb stairs/ramps throughout the ballpark. The position requires the ability to walk long distances and stand for 4 to 5 hours at a time without a break. Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds on occasion.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is part-time, non-exempt position with 20-25 hours of expected work per week. Due to the nature of this position, the position requires hours of work and days that include frequent evenings/nights, weekends and holidays.
Travel
Travel will not be required for this position.
