The Mechanic I performs mechanical tasks including inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and replacement of all mechanical equipment to ensure optimal levels of safety and equipment productivity.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maintains and inspects centrifugal pumps and electric motors, including bearing and seal replacements, alignments, couplings, sumps, fans, drain piping modifications, block valves, control valves, air compressors, valve actuators, etc.
- Provides maintenance support for assigned assets such as natural gas processing plants, pipelines, and compressor stations. Assets typically include site structures, buildings, and industrial equipment specific to each asset’s functionality.
- Performs preventative and predictive maintenance and repairs on facility-specific equipment.
- Conducts condition monitoring using performance assessment software. Reviews diagnostics to understand current health of equipment.
- Assists with equipment re-builds.
- Supports asset’s air quality monitoring program by maintaining and repairing leaking equipment such as valves, compressors, pumps, and connectors.
- Maintains complete, accurate, and regulatory-compliant documentation.
- Broadens knowledge of facility-specific equipment through on-the-job training and industrial technology courses.
- Capable of utilizing Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Maintains compressor logs, engine hours, diaries, oil sampling, and inventories of parts, equipment, lube oils, and coolants.
- Performs general upkeep of facilities and equipment including pumps/compressors, company vehicle, and shop.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Possess a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job.
- Proficient computer skills, including spreadsheet and word processing applications preferred.
- Capable of working well with others and independently performing tasks.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Knowledge of vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, and brakes.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Attention to detail and precision in work.
- Strong problem-solving skills to address mechanical issues effectively.
- Commitment to safety protocols and practices.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and procedures.
- Must live or relocate to within 1 hour of the reporting location.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required
- 1+ year of mechanical experience is preferred

This position may require occasional travel to remote sites, potential exposure to flammable material, adherence to safety protocols, compliance with operating regulations, and will require rigorous physical demands.
