POSITION SUMMARY
The Human Resources Generalist provides comprehensive Human Resources support across agency locations and programs. This role partners with employees, supervisors, and agency leadership to support the full employee lifecycle through employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, compliance, policy administration, and day-to-day HR operations.
The HR Generalist collaborates with HR leadership to ensure consistent application of agency policies, regulatory compliance, effective hiring practices, and a positive employee experience
This role will serve as the on-site HR presence at our Hoyleton, IL Residential Campus.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide Human Resources support across assigned agency locations, serving as the primary resource for routine employee questions, HR processes, policies, and procedures.
- Under supervision of HR leadership support employee relations activities through intake, documentation, coaching, corrective action coordination, investigations, and collaboration with HR leadership.
- Under supervision or in partnership with HR leadership Coordinate workers’ compensation, unemployment documentation, compliance tracking, and other employment-related processes.
- Monitor compliance requirements, employment deadlines, and HR documentation to ensure regulatory and agency standards are met.
- Manage recruitment activities for assigned positions, including job postings, applicant screening, interview coordination, candidate communication, reference checks, and pre-employment requirements.
- Partner with hiring managers to identify staffing needs, coordinate interviews, support hiring decisions, and facilitate internal transfers and offers.
- Coordinate onboarding activities, New Employee Orientation, and employee status changes to support a positive onboarding experience.
- Maintain HRIS, ATS, employee records, and recruiting documentation while ensuring data integrity and record retention.
- Support annual HR initiatives including performance evaluations, employee acknowledgements, benefits open enrollment, and workforce reporting.
- Participate in employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, recruitment outreach, job fairs, and agency events.
- Travel between agency locations and represent Human Resources in support of agency operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of residential campus operations, agency locations, Human Resources initiatives, and organizational objectives.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Working knowledge of HR practices, including onboarding, employee relations support, recruitment, and compliance processes.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple requisitions, maintain accurate documentation, and follow through on tasks.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and exercise sound judgment when handling confidential and sensitive information.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with the ability to build effective working relationships with candidates, employees, managers, and community partners.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with HR leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Experience utilizing HRIS systems and Microsoft Office applications, including reporting and data tracking functions (Paylocity or similar HRIS preferred).
- Ability to support HR reporting, compliance tracking, and administrative process coordination.
- Demonstrated experience developing sourcing strategies, candidate pipelines, and community outreach efforts to support workforce needs.
- Must meet DCFS/CANTS Clearance Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and maintain proof of automobile insurance
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required with three (3) years of HR experience in talent acquisition, human resources, or combination of recruitment and HR support experience.
- Experience in nonprofit, residential, behavioral health, child welfare, healthcare, or social service environments preferred.
- SHRM-CP/SPHR or PHR/SPHR preferred.

TCI (Therapeutic Crisis Intervention). Employees must:
- Pass the written test annually
- Pass the physical test every six months (if applicable to their role)

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position operates in a professional office environment at multiple agency locations, with travel between campuses and other locations for hiring events, outreach, or organizational needs.
This role may require occasional lifting (up to 30 pounds), walking or standing for events, and exposure to varying environments based on recruitment needs.
