Maintenance Manager 1
Idaho Asphalt Supply, Inc. is a leading asphalt supplier and marketer in the Inland Northwest and Pacific Northwest Regions. With plants in Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, Oregon, California, and Arizona, IAS supplies a diverse product line of asphalts, polymer modified asphalts, and asphalt emulsions to the road maintenance and construction industry. We are seeking an Maintenance Manager 1 to support all three plants located in North Salt Lake, Woods Cross, and Woods Cross North.
Reporting to the North Salt Lake Plant Manager, the Maintenance Manager 1 will be responsible for all aspects of maintenance repairs, installations, and other services of the plants. This position will focus all efforts on plant wide health of both facility and operational equipment. This includes but is not limited to forward thinking as it pertains to establishing preventative maintenance plans and executing said maintenance with little to no assistance. This individual works closely with all the plant operations.
Position Responsibilities:
- Removed Operator 5 tasks
- Provide oversight of the maintenance operations of the plant with a focus on safety.
- Follow the preventative maintenance plan for all three Utah plants.
- Responsible for equipment maintenance on tanks, motors, pumps, piping systems, railcar mover, forklifts, boilers, hot oil Heaters, and other equipment relative to the plant.
- Plan for and execute component level rebuilds of pumps, mechanized equipment, and electrical components of said industrial equipment and facilities.
- Operational troubleshooting of facility, equipment and software to determine the level of vendor support requirements and the ability to learn from vendors to avoid vendor support requirements going forward.
- Appropriately prioritize maintenance and reliability activities.
- Promote, improve, and assure that we take full advantage of the systems which we use to operate our business.
- Manage spares parts inventory, driving visibility and commonality across our all three Utah plants.
- Monitor plant performance, marshal resources when necessary to maintain acceptable plant operation.
- Assign and monitor the achievement of annual plant maintenance goals.
- Coordinate with vendors to schedule repairs or replacement parts.
Position Requirements:
- Five years of related experience/education/certification.
- Mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Computer skills that make possible the development of work instructions and interaction with various vendor specific software systems.
- Ability to read blueprints and drawings and have the investigative skills to quickly research repair parts and plan for procurement/install.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment.
- Must understand and utilize Lock out/Tag out (LOTO)
- Ability to work at heights
- Must be able to work in a dynamic and fast-paced setting.
- Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions.

Work Environment:
Utah summers are hot, and winters are cold, where 90% of the relevant troubleshooting is outside in the elements and all hours of the day and night. With this position being a “Working Manager” Role, it is a necessity to be ready to get your hands dirty and lead the charge towards creating/maintaining a world class maintenance platform from the trenches. This is not a direct supervisory position. The Maintenance Manager is “the-team” with limited assistance from the Operators.
