Built on a legacy of quality and innovation, we are seeking a Technician - Material (Injection Mold) to join our team and support our continued growth.
This role will be involved in operating a forklift to move raw materials to the manufacturing machines ensuring on-time availability for manufacturing of cooler related products accomplished in a safe and efficient manner.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensures safe working practices are followed and all accidents, hazards, near misses, and property damage is reported in the required time.
- Ensures that production activities are carried out in accordance with approved procedures.
- Ensures raw material flow up to the point of molding.
- Prepares materials and resins at machine for punctual startups based on scheduling priorities.
- Operates forklift to organize and move resins.
- Performs blender and color feeder calibrations.
- Performs color changes utilizing purging agents in accordance with purge procedure.
- Assists with proper shut down and clean out of plant equipment.
- Monitors/operates feeding systems to ensure proper blends. (Gravimetric blenders, Loss of weight Color feeders, Liquid pumps, grinder systems, and pneumatic conveying equipment)
- Aggressively utilizes regrind material at maximum levels allowed.
- Ensures that assigned processes are done within the allotted time per management.
- Identifies mechanical or process issues with their equipment and, if necessary, interact with Maintenance or Tool & Die to get the issues resolved.
- Created maintenance repair tickets as needed and follows up to ensure repairs
- Coordinates with Quality Control to get all color changing approved and processed
- Communicates all in-process or issues to the next shift at shift change
- Comply with all plant 5S standards, maintaining a clean working environment. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Ensures that material spills are immediately cleaned up, keeping aisle-ways clear;
- Returns color to the correct storage areas;
- Prevents the spill of plastic “fines”;
- Keeps cyclone/bag filters/gaylords of regrind emptied.
- Aggressively works to keep plant total regrind levels to a minimum.
- Make continuous cycles through the machines that are running; at each machine:
- Removes worms from all blow molding heads;
- Changes and/or clean vacuum filters on each machine’s blender and surge bins;
- Cleans excess plastic from around the top of accumulators;
- Cleans the magnets above the feed throat. Clean all material spills regularly.
- Remains current on forklift training and certification as required by supervisor, manager, and/or Igloo Safety.
- Completes Forklift Inspection Book/Log at the beginning of shift.
- Ensures that all inventory transactions are properly made into and out of cage.
- Returns any unused or leftover material to the cage and that it is properly transacted back into the system.
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications
A suitable background would be a solid experience within the following qualifications and experiences:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalency.
- Experience: Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment; minimum of six (6) months of demonstrated experience on the stand-up forklift.
- English language skills: Able to read, write, speak and comprehend English.
- Math skills: Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
Physical Demands & Conditions
(Applicable to Igloo Operators, Technicians, Leaders, and Other Roles in Manufacturing)
Standing & Walking
Roles may involve extended periods (up to 12 hours) of standing and walking, including moving at a brisk pace and occasional stair climbing.
Postural Requirements
Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and working in low or awkward positions during production or maintenance tasks.
Lifting & Material Handling
- Operator-level roles may involve lifting up to 25 lb repeatedly throughout the shift.
- Technician-level roles may involve lifting up to 50 lb multiple times per day, including overhead lifts.
- Where possible, mechanical aids (e.g., hoists, forklifts) are used.
Fine Motor Skills & Tool Use
Use of both hands is required to operate tools, perform adjustments, and handle assembly materials with precision.
Visual Requirements
Sufficient visual acuity (e.g., 20/40 with or without correction) is necessary for tasks involving inspection and safe equipment operation.
Environmental Conditions
- Work is performed in a production setting where seasonal temperatures may range from 100–120°F (with humidity) in summer to cooler conditions in winter.
- High noise levels are common; hearing protection is provided and required.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as ear protection, safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, gloves, and protective clothing may be required depending on the task.
Additional Job Considerations
These roles can be physically demanding, involving repetitive motions and long hours. Technicians may be required to handle heavy molds and materials; use of material handling equipment is provided and encouraged.
