Description
Brookhaven Animal Hospital is looking for an experienced Veterinary Technician who is confident in general anesthesia, surgical nursing, dentistry, and advanced patient care.
This is not an entry-level position.
We're looking for someone who already has a solid clinical foundation and enjoys being an active part of every surgical case from patient admission through recovery. What You'll Do
Surgery and Anesthesia
Prepare surgical patients for anesthesia and surgery
Induce, monitor, and recover anesthetic patients
Monitor ECG, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, capnography, temperature, and patient comfort
Assist veterinarians during routine and advanced surgical procedures
Maintain sterile surgical technique and prepare instrumentation
Manage post-operative pain control and patient recovery
Veterinary Dentistry
Perform dental prophylaxis
Obtain high-quality digital dental radiographs
Assist with dental procedures and extractions
Educate clients on preventive dental care and home maintenance
Advanced Patient Care
Place IV catheters and perform venipuncture
Administer medications and treatments
Collect laboratory samples and perform in-house diagnostics
Monitor hospitalized patients and communicate changes in condition
Maintain thorough and accurate medical records
Client Education
Discuss treatment plans and post-operative care
Review discharge instructions and medications
Build lasting relationships through compassionate client communication
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of hands-on veterinary technician experience
Strong confidence with general anesthesia and surgical nursing
Comfortable placing IV catheters and performing venipuncture
Experience assisting with surgery in a small animal practice
Strong patient assessment and nursing skills
Excellent communication and teamwork
Preferred Qualifications
Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT, RVT, or CVT)
Experience performing dental prophylaxis and dental radiography
Strong knowledge of anesthetic monitoring and pain management
Fear Free handling experience
Passion for continuing education and professional development
Highly experienced Veterinary Assistants with advanced surgical and anesthesia experience are encouraged to apply.
