Do you have a passion for creating families? San Diego Fertility Center is seeking a full time and dedicated Egg Donor Coordinator RN to join our team in Del Mar. In this role, you'll manage all aspects of donor egg IVF and IVF/FET screening and testing procedures, providing continuous, quality nursing care for patients in our IVF program. This is a challenging position requiring the ability to work with minimal instruction or direction, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Essential Job Duties:
- Provide comprehensive fertility education to patients and couples participating in complex IVF cycles
- Educate patients and families on fertility medications, including side effects and adverse reactions
- Facilitate ordering and delivery of fertility medications
- Demonstrate competency in sterilization of appropriate instruments
- Accurately report lab results and treatment plans to physicians and patients
- Conduct FDA screening of potential egg donors; maintain egg donor files and provide potential recipients with donor profiles
- Manage all aspects of the donor embryo program, including collaborating with the Reproductive Lab to ensure FDA compliance; maintain donor embryo files and provide recipient profiles
- Maintain confidentiality of anonymous egg donor numbers and donor-recipient matches while keeping records accessible to employees who need the information
- Coordinate, communicate, and schedule IVF egg retrievals and embryo transfers
- Provide preoperative and postoperative nursing care as needed
- Assist in procedures as needed
- Respond to and triage patient phone calls related to IVF
- Review patient medical records prior to appointments and obtain missing forms, reports, or lab results
- Monitor patients daily to assess for developing health problems; coordinate serial vaginal ultrasounds for follicle size prior to egg retrieval
- Perform phlebotomy and lab ordering
- Coordinate patient care with the Reproductive Technology Lab and anesthesia providers
- Uphold patient dignity, respect, privacy, and confidentiality
- Provide emotional and psychological support to patients and families
- Participate in cost containment through appropriate use of supplies and resources
- Perform other duties as directed by physicians and/or practice manager
Administrative & Quality Assurance Responsibilities:
- Assess quality of patient care and recommend improvements to clinical care
- Assist in developing and maintaining compliance with JCAHO, CDC, FDA, and other required standards
- Identify safety and health concerns by assessing environmental, operational, and occupational conditions; evaluate new equipment and procedures; recommend preventative programs
- Perform administrative duties to keep the program compliant with egg donor regulations
- Meet educational and annual competency assessment requirements
- Adapt to changing conditions with flexibility
- Support quality assurance efforts as needed
- Work with the Lab Director to write and revise IVF consent forms
- Maintain statistics within the practice and SART database
- Maintain timely, accurate patient charting and documentation
- Maintain current licensure at all times
- Participate in professional societies
- Maintain professional and technical skills through workshops, publications, and networking
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program with RN licensure
- BSN preferred
- Current California RN licensure
- Minimum two years of RN experience
- Experience in a reproductive medicine setting preferred, not required
- Excellent organizational skills; ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Strong technical skills
- Experience with EMR documentation
- Ability to respond to emergency situations
- Availability to work approximately one in four/five weekends and some holidays
- Completion of mandatory and continuing education requirements
- CPR, ACLS, or other certifications as applicable
- Demonstrated competency in equipment operation during initial orientation, annually, and as new equipment is acquired
