Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead design development and direct the design team to create 3D data and drawings
- Conduct Design & Peer Review meetings to drive design development
- Resolve design or manufacturing related concerns within established timelines
- Hold and support customer, supplier and launch team meetings
- Analyze part and assembly parts dimensionally versus theoretical data and take measures of correction if needed
- Lead in BOM development during the RFQ process
- Review Drawing and Engineering specifications during the quote process
- Develop DVPs and coordinate any and all testing needed to validate product design
- Support with Benchmarking activities that align with our core competencies and sales plan
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the Automotive Industry
- Knowledge/understanding of DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, APQP, and VA/VE process
- Experience with managing design-engineering process at the OEM level
- Mechanical aptitude
- Knowledge/understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance per ASME standards, advanced product quality planning, and IATF-16949 requirements
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, policies and procedure manuals and operating instructions
- Collaboration; maintains team-oriented environment, allowing for individual differences and growth
