Join us as a Controller and play a key role in maintaining strong financial stewardship, accuracy, and compliance across all organizational operations. Under the general direction of the Director of Finance, you will lead the development and oversight of accounting processes, financial reporting, and internal controls while supporting sound financial decision-making throughout the organization. This role focuses on managing day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory and grant requirements, overseeing audit preparation, and identifying financial risks and efficiencies.
You will collaborate closely with organizational leadership, department heads, and external partners to support budgeting, reporting, and financial planning efforts that ensure operational continuity and accountability. You will also supervise and support a small accounting team of two direct reports, helping guide performance, strengthen processes, and ensure the organization remains financially accurate, compliant, and well-prepared for both routine operations and audit or regulatory review processes.
Pay rates offered are determined based on a standardized scale that considers relevant experience and education.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
Other degrees with relevant experience will be considered.
Additional directly related professional level experience may substitute for degree on a year for year basis.
AND
Three years of progressive professional level accounting experience
Two years of supervisory experience, which can be concurrent with the roles above
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with non-profit and healthcare organizations
All JAMHI positions require the ability to pass a criminal background check in accordance with the current state regulation requirements and a valid Alaska driver’s license and be able to clear the JAMHI auto insurance screening through the independent insurance carrier if driving.
