Maintenance Lead
Summary:
The Maintenance Lead is a highly skilled maintenance technician responsible for providing technical leadership and day-to-day coordination of maintenance activities while remaining actively engaged in hands-on maintenance work. This role serves as the primary technical resource for the maintenance team, helping prioritize work, troubleshoot complex equipment issues, mentor technicians, and support continuous improvement initiatives. The Maintenance Lead works closely with the Facilities Manager to ensure maintenance objectives are met .
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Serve as the lead technical resource for the maintenance team, providing guidance and assistance on complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic repairs.
- Coordinate daily maintenance activities with the Facilities Manager to ensure work is prioritized and completed efficiently.
- Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and equipment installations on production machinery and facility systems.
- Assist in diagnosing equipment failures and support technicians in resolving difficult maintenance issues.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and production interruptions to minimize downtime and restore equipment to service quickly.
- Help coordinate preventive and predictive maintenance activities to improve equipment reliability and maximize uptime.
- Train, mentor, and share technical knowledge with maintenance technicians while promoting best maintenance practices.
- Assist with planning maintenance projects, equipment upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, equipment history, and inventory usage.
- Recommend improvements to maintenance procedures, equipment reliability, spare parts inventory, and overall maintenance effectiveness.
- Work closely with production, engineering, quality, and other departments to resolve equipment issues and support manufacturing objectives.
- Ensure all maintenance work is performed safely and in accordance with company policies, OSHA requirements, and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Assist the Facilities Manager by communicating equipment status, maintenance priorities, and resource needs.
- Perform facility maintenance as needed, including lighting, HVAC, utilities, and building infrastructure.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair complex industrial manufacturing equipment.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills with the ability to influence and guide others without direct supervisory authority.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, technical manuals, and equipment documentation.
- Thorough understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance principles.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Proficiency with CMMS software and basic computer applications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment, with demonstrated experience serving as a technical leader or senior maintenance technician.
- Experience with CNC machines, automated equipment, robotics, and industrial manufacturing systems is preferred.
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, and manufacturing safety standards.
- Experience supporting preventive maintenance programs and continuous improvement initiatives.
