Position: Quality Assurance Technician
Location: Arlington, TN
Salary Rate: $22.00 per hour
Schedule:
- Regular: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday
- Extended: Occasionally 6:00 AM – 6:30 PM
- May also be required to work weekends
Purpose Statement
Performs microbiological, analytical, performance, and sensory evaluations using established methods and procedures. Ensures compliance with BRC Global Standards for Food Safety, including formula control, data integrity, HACCP, GMPs, process monitoring, communication, document control, customer specifications, and RPC quality and reliability standards.
Major Responsibilities
- Product & Process Auditing: Monitor and audit products from receiving through shipping to ensure food safety and quality requirements are met.
- Safety Compliance: Support and adhere to company safety rules and programs to maintain safe working conditions.
- Testing & Analysis: Conduct microbiological, analytical, performance, and organoleptic testing on ingredients, packaging, WIP, and finished products. Notify management of deviations.
- Database Management: Assist in maintaining laboratory data records.
- Process Documentation: Collaborate with plant personnel and Corporate R&D to develop and maintain accurate work instructions.
- Training: Help train operators on formulas, GMPs, and evaluation procedures.
- Process Control Verification: Audit HACCP, weight control, and finished product specifications.
- Product Development Support: Assist in testing and commercialization of new or modified products.
- Change Management: Document and track changes to products, processes, and suppliers.
- Ethics & Conduct: Demonstrate high moral character and adhere to company codes of conduct.
- Production Monitoring: Work closely with production teams to resolve quality issues and ensure compliance with GMP, sanitation, and regulatory standards.
- Hold & Release Program: Initiate holds on non‑compliant products and ensure proper release procedures.
- Continuous Improvement: Recommend improvements in manufacturing, sanitation, and testing practices.
- Knowledge Development: Stay updated on manufacturing technologies and maintain comprehensive product knowledge.
- Team Participation: Participate in QA 6S meetings and PIT initiatives to drive continuous improvement.
- Perform other related responsibilities as needed to support *** Corporation’s business objectives.
Skills & Experience
- Degree in Biology, Food Science, Food Technology, or related field preferred.
- 3+ years in food‑processing, pharmaceutical, or chemical manufacturing (Dairy/Non‑Dairy highly desired).
- Knowledge of QA techniques, GMPs, HACCP, product safety, and cost control.
- Ability to train associates, plan and monitor tasks/projects.
- Strong problem‑solving and statistical analysis skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook; ability to learn Access, MiniTab, QAD, SAP, OPTIVA.
Food Safety Responsibilities
- Follow all GMPs, food safety, and quality policies.
- Ensure compliance with hygiene and food safety standards.
- Report incidents such as contamination, equipment deficiencies, glass breakage, or pest activity.
- Review food defense and quality records for accuracy and compliance.
- Coach employees on food defense and quality regulations.
- Provide corrective actions for non‑compliance.
- Maintain accurate documentation and housekeeping standards.
Physical Requirements
- Lift up to 25 kg (55 lbs).
- Perform walking, standing, climbing, reaching, stooping, pulling, pushing, grasping, and balancing.
- Ability to see and hear clearly to communicate effectively.
- Work in warm/cold environments, near noisy machinery, and confined spaces.
Pay: $22.00 per hour

- Have you performed laboratory testing, including microbiological, analytical, sensory, or quality evaluations of raw materials, in-process products, or finished goods?
- Do you have experience identifying product quality issues, documenting deviations, and supporting corrective actions?
- Are you familiar with maintaining accurate quality records, completing documentation, and following document control procedures?
- Are you comfortable working directly on the production floor to monitor processes, verify quality standards, and communicate with production employees?
- Are you proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook) and able to learn quality systems or databases used in manufacturing?
- Can you work the required schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM, with occasional extended hours, overtime, and possible weekend work?
- Are you able to perform the physical requirements of the position, including standing/walking for extended periods, working in warm and cold environments, and lifting up to 55 lbs (25 kg)?
