The Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CVPCU) is a 32 bed adult inpatient surgical unit. The unit offers 3 levels of care: floor, telemetry, and intermediate care for acute cardiac, vascular, and other surgical patients requiring cardiac monitoring. Care and services provided: coronary artery bypass, Heartmate© II or III & Heartware© mechanical circulatory support devices, valve replacement or repairs, Type A & B aortic dissections, fem-pop bypass, scalenectomy, TAVR, heart or lung transplantation. During the week there is an experienced resource nurse available to assist with admissions/discharges, transport monitoring, and emergencies. This Registered Nurse (RN) will help lead different initiatives and support the Nurse Manager in the day-to-day operations of the unit, provide resources to staff and help provide patient care. This role is vital in ensuring the unit runs smoothly.
The Registered Nurse Lead will provide clinical and operational leadership while supporting the day-to-day management of the nursing team. In this role, the RN will oversee employment activities, conduct performance evaluations, facilitate staff development and training, and support performance improvement initiatives. The RN will mentor and empower nursing staff, fostering a culture of quality, safety, collaboration, and professional growth. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse Lead will help drive operational excellence and ensure the delivery of exceptional, patient-centered care.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Nursing required
- Active Maryland or Compact RN license is required
- BLS CPR certification required
- Minimum of 3 years acute care RN work experience required
- Charge/preceptor experience required, leading committees and scheduling experience preferred

Salary Range: Minimum 47.96/hour - Maximum 74.34/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
