Job Description:
Description: The Clinical Pharmacist-Psychiatry works closely with other clinicians to ensure quality multi-disciplinary patient care to patients presenting to the psychiatry emergency center and admitted to the inpatient psychiatry unit.
Typical Duties:
- Actively participate in daily rounds and act as a drug information resource to prescribers.
- Perform drug utilization reviews, monitor for drug interactions, assist in maintaining formulary integrity, provide monitoring services of narrow therapeutic drugs, and evaluate potential adverse drug events.
- Provide education for medical, nursing, social work, pharmacy and other clinical staff as well as patients of JPS Health Network. Serves as a clinical preceptor for pharmacy students and residents.
Provide pharmacotherapy education to psychiatry residents through informal teaching and formal lectures.
Function as a clinical resource for the hospital staff..
Represent the department in interdepartmental/district meetings as required.
- Participate in the development of medication use management programs within JPS Health Network including clinical guidelines, disease management and drug use programs.
- Ensure completion and accuracy of required documentation and record keeping.
- Performs all other related job duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of accredited college of pharmacy.
- 1 year American Society of Health-System Pharmacist (ASHP) accredited residency and 4 plus years of mental health experience. OR
- Graduate of accredited college of pharmacy.
- Completed ASHP-accredited PGY2 residency in psychiatry.
- Completed ASHP-accredited PGY2 residency in psychiatry.
- Pharmacy license from Texas State Board of Pharmacy or eligible for same.
- Specialty Board Certification or complete within 24 months of hire.
- Current JPS recognized Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and must be maintained throughout employment. May be obtained within 6 months of hire.
- Preceptor with Texas State Board of Pharmacy or complete within 6 months of hire.
