POSITION TITLE: Clinician; Qualified Mental Health Professional; Therapist ($5,000 sign on bonus)
PURPOSE: The Outpatient Clinician provides individual, family, and group counseling in a community-based setting. Care settings may include jails, hospitals, primary care clinics, schools, clients' homes, and other locations as determined by the agency to best meet the individual needs of each client. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, developing and updating treatment plans, maintaining accurate documentation, and care coordination with both internal teams and external providers to support comprehensive behavioral health treatment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Client Assessment & Treatment Planning
a. Conduct intake assessments and diagnostic evaluations.
b. Develop initial and master treatment plans, collaborating with medical and community program staff as needed.
c. Utilize agency-approved assessment tools (e.g., DLA-20, CAFAS, PECFAS) to determine appropriate level of care.
2. Therapeutic Services
a. Provide individual, family, and group psychotherapy/counseling.
b. Offer crisis intervention services during office hours and participate in on-call crisis rotation (voluntary).
c. Deliver psychological assessments, including court-ordered and competency evaluations, as appropriate to training.
3. Documentation & Compliance
a. Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation per agency, state, and federal standards using collaborative documentation practices.
b. Complete all reports (e.g., court, foster care, schools, PCPs) in a professional and timely manner.
c. Document care coordination activities, referrals, and follow-ups thoroughly.
4. Collaboration & Care Coordination
a. Coordinate care with internal staff and external providers (e.g., schools, courts, hospitals, PCPs).
b. Make referrals to appropriate internal or external resources to ensure quality care.
c. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and maintain a professional, respectful presence.
5. Community & Professional Engagement
a. Provide public education or represent the agency at health fairs and community events.
b. Offer expert court testimony when needed.
c. Maintain clinical licensure through required continuing education.
d. Adhere to all ethical standards and pursue ongoing professional development goals.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
1. Master’s degree and a valid Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board license as an LMSW or LSCSW, LPC or LCPC, LMFT or LCMFT, or LMLP or LCP. If equivalently licensed by another state, then KS state license must be obtained prior to employment. May work under a temporary license granted by the appropriate state authority.
2. Must be at least 21 years of age; Proficient in the English language; Able to pass pre-employment background and drug screening; Have completed or is able to complete within the first 90 days of employment Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) training as required by the State of Kansas.
3. Experience working with individuals with Serious Mental Illness (SMI), Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED), or Substance Use Disorders (SUD) is preferred.
4. Strong organizational and time management skills.
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
7. Proficient in the use of computers and electronic health record systems.
8. Required to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1. Remaining stationary, such as standing or sitting, for prolonged periods.
2. Frequently moving from one worksite to another to accomplish tasks.
3. Adjusting or moving objects up to 10 pounds in any direction.
4. Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands or fingers.
5. Communicating with others to exchange information.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The environment is a typical office environment or school classroom. While on location, work is generally performed indoors with ambient room temperatures, lighting, and traditional office equipment. This position may require travel to multiple worksites including other offices. Ability to be emotionally responsive. The ability to utilize telehealth platforms for virtual sessions is essential.

SALARY RANGE FOR THIS POSITION: Salary commensurate with experience and Kanza MHGC salary structure.
