The Thoroughbred Center is hiring for a part time Accounting Assistant!
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Accounting & Billing
- Prepare monthly stall billing and custom project invoices, including account maintenance, payment application, customer account management, and month-end reporting.
- Maintain accurate billing records using web-based accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Process accounts payable by entering invoices, matching supporting documentation, assisting with check preparation, and maintaining organized financial records.
- Prepare weekly bank deposits, including check scanning, deposit reconciliation, and processing credit card fund transfers.
- Assist with monthly lumber inventory by comparing physical counts with inventory reports and assisting with reconciliation.
Administrative Support
- Maintain organized filing systems for financial documents, contracts, vehicle titles, registrations, leases, and other business records.
- Archive accounting and administrative records according to company procedures.
- Assist the Accounting Coordinator and/or Director with special projects, financial analysis, reporting, and provide backup coverage when necessary.
- Provide administrative support to other departments as needed, including filing, copying, scanning, ordering office supplies, data entry, and other office duties.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall operations of The Thoroughbred Center.
QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- One to three years of accounting, bookkeeping, or office administration experience preferred.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Experience using accounting or web-based financial software preferred.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of financial and personnel information.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid driver’s license preferred.
