Job Summary
Serves as the primary career services liaison for assigned colleges or academic units at Kennesaw State University. Provides career readiness guidance and advising to students, faculty, employers, and alumni, with a focus on internships, co-ops, and other experiential learning opportunities. Delivers comprehensive career coaching and programs on career exploration, internship and job search strategies, co-op participation, and post-graduation career planning. Collaborates with faculty, academic advisors, and campus partners to integrate career development into curricular and co-curricular experiences, preparing students for meaningful professional careers.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Serves as the primary career services liaison for assigned colleges or academic units, providing career readiness guidance and advising to students, faculty, employers, and alumni
2. Delivers individual and group career coaching on career exploration, professional skills, internship and co-op opportunities, job search strategies, resume and cover letter development, interview preparation, and salary negotiation
3. Advises students on internships, co-op placements, fellowships, service-learning, and other experiential learning opportunities that align with academic and career goals
4. Creates programmatic offerings and workshops to help students generate career goals, connect those goals to academic majors, and prepare for meaningful professional experiences
5. Provides targeted support to undeclared or exploratory students, partnering with campus partners to address unique career development needs
6. Delivers classroom, campus, and orientation presentations to educate students on career readiness, internships, co-ops, experiential learning, and academic credit processes
7. Supports career fairs, employer events, networking events, and other department-sponsored programs that connect students with experiential learning and career opportunities
8. Promotes department resources, events, and opportunities to students, faculty, and campus partners to enhance engagement and utilization
9. Collaborates with faculty, academic advisors, and campus partners to integrate career readiness, internships, co-ops, and experiential learning into curricular and co-curricular experiences
10. Maintains a liaison relationship with faculty and administrators regarding the processing, approval, and registration of for-credit internships and co-op programs
11. Connects students with employers, alumni, and/or mentors to facilitate internships, co-op placements, and career readiness experiences
12. Shares program-specific opportunities and provides guidance to help students secure experiential learning opportunities that align with career goals
13. May serve as an instructor of record for non-credit bearing internship, cooperative education, and/or career-focused courses, as assigned
14. Provides educational sessions and workshops on career readiness, professional development, and experiential learning topics
15. Participates in department or university-wide committees to advance career readiness initiatives, strengthen partnerships, and support student success programs
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education
Other Required Qualifications
Current, valid, and unrestricted driver's license
Required Experience
Two (2) years of relevant professional experience, including career advising or student support services.
Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with career services platforms (e.g., Handshake), applicant tracking systems, and career assessment tools to support student advising and programming
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with campus partners and contribute to initiatives that promote student career readiness and engagement
Preferred Educational Qualifications
An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Higher Education Administration, Counseling, Human Resources, Public Administration, or a related field
Preferred Experience
Experience supporting career development programming, workshops, or student success initiatives, including assisting with implementation and contributing to assessment efforts
Proposed Salary
The budgeted salary range for this role is $47,000-$53,000 annually. Offers are based on relevant experience.

Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines
KNOWLEDGE
Working knowledge of career development theory and career readiness competencies, with the ability to apply concepts in individual advising and group workshops
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management, and presentation skills
Proficiency in career services platforms (e.g., Handshake), Microsoft Office Suite, and data tracking to assess program effectiveness and student outcomes
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
Skill in building collaborative relationships with students, faculty, employers, and campus partners to support student career development initiatives
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
