SUMMARY:
The Maintenance Worker performs routine and repetitive custodial, janitorial and manual labor tasks at the Campbell County Detention Center in Newport, KY.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: includes, but are not limited to:
- Inspects and maintains the condition of the building facilities, fixtures, and furnishings to ensure their cleanliness;
- Dusts workstations, furnishings, and other areas as needed;
- Empties all trash cans and smoking receptacles;
- Cleans and sanitizes restrooms, including washing all mirrors, hand basins, hardware, toilet seats, bowls and urinals;
- Replenishes hand soap, towels and tissue paper in all restrooms;
- Mops all public area floors including restrooms using disinfectant;
- Cleans windows and doors;
- Vacuums and spot cleans all carpets and rugs;
- Shampoos carpeted areas and strips/waxes floors as needed;
- Removes debris and performs any cleaning or maintenance required due to inclement weather;
- Transports equipment and supplies between buildings as needed;
- Completes regular checklists on building maintenance procedures
- Performs any maintenance and/or cleaning duties as needed or assigned
- Assumes duties/responsibilities of coworkers and/or performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES):
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with fellow employees, county officials and the general public;
- Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and corresponding safety precautions necessary for the safe performance of assigned duties;
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions;
- Ability to understand basic math and measurements;
- Knowledge of maintenance and janitorial services;
- Ability to work in wet/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions; and
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job which include, but are not limited to, standing, frequent walking, feeling, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and the ability to lift and/or move objecting weighing up to 50 pounds.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or equivalent plus six months custodial or maintenance experience; or any combination of training and education and experience.
Must have valid driver's license
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
