Position Description:
The Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for developing and executing marketing and communication strategies that enhance Keystone’s visibility, engages stakeholders, and advances our mission.
This position manages Keystone’s marketing and communications activities ensuring our messaging is consistent, compelling, accessible and aligned with organizational goals. Duties include creating and distributing content across digital and print platforms, including Keystone’s website, social media channels, email communication, newsletters, and other marketing materials. This position will also be responsible for collecting content, writing and designing materials that supports fundraising efforts, promotes programs and services and connects new audiences to Keystone’s mission.
This position reports to the Vice President of Advancement, while collaborating with other Keystone programs and the leadership team, to ensure that all communications effectively reflect Keystone’s impact and support strategic goals.
Essential Functions:
Marketing and Communications Management – 40%
- Develop and implement marketing and communication strategies to grow exposure and share Keystone’s mission, impact and community impact.
- Create and manage a comprehensive communications calendar that includes digital communications, email marketing, newsletters, social media, fundraising communications, outreach materials, and program-specific messaging.
- Collaborate with departments to develop, update and distribute content for social media, website, and print materials.

- Maintain Keystone’s brand identity, including visual standards, messaging guidelines, templates, and design resources.
- Develop processes and schedules for regularly updating program materials, including photos, videos, stories, and testimonials.
- Ensuring branding is consistent for marketing and communications usage.
- Partner with Advancement and program leadership to establish and maintain ethical practices for collecting and sharing participant stories, photos, and testimonials. Support planning, promotion, and execution of Keystone events and community engagement opportunities.
- Research and evaluate current marketing and communications data and report on areas of growth opportunities
Project Management and Execution 40%
- Manage marketing project requests, including establishing timelines, requirements, approvals, and asset use guidelines.
- Create and design marketing materials including brochures, flyers, invitations, reports, presentations, signage, digital graphics, and other communications assets.
- Develop engaging and accessible content for Keystone’s website, social media platforms, and email communications.
- Take thoughtful, strategic, and genuine video and photos of Keystone spaces, staff, events, and participants to educate about program areas, communicate to the public, and ethically and respectfully share the experiences of those we serve.
- Ensure digital content is current, user-friendly, accessible, and aligned with organizational messaging.
- Create presentations and reports (Board reports, Powerpoint presentations, etc.)
Public Relations – 15%
- Assist with media inquiries and outreach efforts.
- Support the preparation of talking points, press materials, and briefing documents.
- Attend events to gather content, stories and information that can be shared to internal and external stakeholders.
- Support efforts to increase public awareness and understanding of Keystone’s programs and community impact.
Other – 5%
- Performs other duties and projects as assigned for the purpose of meeting agency goals.
Qualification Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Three to Five years of experience developing marketing and communication plans to grow agency awareness.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines and adjust plans based on organizational needs.
- Experience creating, managing, and updating social media, web sites (Wordpress, Squarespace), and other digital platforms.
- Ability to maintain brand standards and developing consistent visual and written communications.
- Able to work in collaboration with other departments to grow agency outreach in the community.
- Data analysis experience preparing reports and delivering successful marketing and communication strategies.
Qualification Preferences
- An advanced degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field
- Graphic design experience (Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, etc.)
- Familiarity with email marketing platforms (Constant Contact, MailChimp, etc.)
- Non-Profit, community based, or mission driven organization experience.
Physical/Mental Requirements & Equipment Used
Primary work location is Keystone's Merriam park offices, with occasional visits to Keystone's 6 sites and community venues for meetings, events, photography, and content gathering.
Physical working conditions include frequent computer work. telephone calls and moving around the office with the ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer, as well as stand or move for extended periods during events and community activities which may take place both indoors and outdoors and may include participation in community events. Ability to work respectfully and effectively with diverse groups, including program participants, volunteers, children, families, individuals with disabilities, and individuals who speak English as a second language Has reliable transportation or the ability to get to Keystone sites or community locations is needed.
