Location: Norwalk, CT
King Industries, Inc. is seeking a skilled Carpenter to join our Maintenance Department in Norwalk, CT. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and demonstrated carpentry experience. This position is responsible for supporting facility maintenance, constructing special projects, and assisting with the movement, rigging, and installation of equipment throughout the plant.
Skills Required:
- Basic arithmetic skills, including addition, subtraction, and multiplication.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow written instructions.
- Knowledge of carpentry techniques, tools, materials, and equipment.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to maintain and repair buildings, structures, and facility components.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work overtime and weekends (at least 2 Maintenance Saturdays a month).
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Demonstrated experience as a skilled carpenter or carpenter craftsman.
- Trade school training preferred.
- Letter of recommendation or documentation from a previous employer verifying experience and abilities is a plus.
- Sheet metal experience is desirable but not required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Shore overseas trucks for shipment and construction of special projects.
- Construct special projects and customized structures as needed throughout the facility.
- Assist with the movement, rigging, and installation of equipment at various elevations throughout the plant.
- Perform maintenance and repair work on buildings, structures, and facility-related components.
- Operate and maintain carpentry tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner.
- Comply with all company safety policies, procedures, and programs.
- Participate in company-wide quality, environmental, and health and safety initiatives in support of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
- Maintain a working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 requirements and support compliance efforts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
