Responsibilities
- Operate the cash register and POS (Point of Sale) system accurately during retail sales transactions, including scanning items, processing payments, and issuing receipts
- Handle cash drawer with precision, ensuring proper cash handling and balancing at shift end
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers warmly, answering questions, and assisting with product inquiries or demos when needed
- Upsell products and promote store specials to enhance sales opportunities and improve customer satisfaction
- Stock shelves, organize merchandise, and assist with merchandising efforts to maintain an attractive store layout
- Conduct product demos to educate customers about new or featured items, encouraging engagement and sales
- Maintain phone etiquette when answering inquiries or assisting customers remotely, ensuring clear communication at all times
Skills
- Proficiency in POS systems and cash register operations with strong retail math skills for accurate transactions
- Previous grocery store or retail sales experience preferred, especially in cashiering and stocking roles
- Supervising experience is a plus, demonstrating leadership in managing team tasks or training new staff
- Bilingual abilities are highly valued to communicate effectively with a diverse customer base
- Excellent communication skills combined with friendly phone etiquette for professional customer interactions
- Knowledge of retail store product knowledge, merchandising techniques, and grocery store operations
- Ability to perform basic math quickly and accurately for cash handling and balancing the cash drawer
- Strong customer service orientation with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
