The Sales Manager is responsible for the effective management of all accounts of the hotel and effectively maintaining those accounts while soliciting new accounts to increase hotel revenues. They are expected to possess superior sales skills, manage client expectations, provide high quality service with clients, guests, and co-workers. The Sales and Service Manager will also be responsible for managing and executing group and catering events.
Responsibilities:
- In conjunction with the Director of Sales, participate in regularly scheduled sales meetings which focus on weekly sales activities; to include prospecting, outside sales calls, follow-ups to RFPs, hotel site tours and client-related events
- Establish and maintain a good working relationship with new and existing clients to leverage ways to increase revenue from this base.
- Respond to RFPs on lead generating platforms, emails and direct calls within the required time frame mandated by the company
- Execute and manage the contracting of new and repeat business
- Detail group and catering events, which include, but are not limited to building group resumes, event orders, and generating rooming list.
- Solicit assigned accounts to achieve or exceed budgeted rooms revenue and to improve performance of the brand in the marketplace.
- Develop extensive knowledge of the marketplace and monitor production of top accounts to study market trends to support solicitation efforts.
- Meet or exceed financial sales goals
- Meet or exceed weekly sales activity goals
- Assist in implementing special promotions relating to direct sales segments (parties, sales blitzes, etc.).
- React to negative trends in the marketplace by implementing blitzes or special promotions.
- Participate in revenue management meetings.
- Carry through all assigned tasks within approved timeline.
- Adhere to company sales policies, hotel rules, and hotel terminology.
- Perform any other duties as requested by the General Manager and/or Director of Sales.
Qualifications:
- Two (2) year or four (4) year college degree with an emphasis in Hotel or Hospitality management preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must have previous experience working in the hospitality industry.
- 3+ years of experience in sales management or in a leadership role in the sales department, preferably in hospitality.
- Opera experience preferred.
- Select, Focused, or Extended Hotel Stay experience preferred
- Strong organization and presentation skills
- Must be able to work independently and simultaneously manage multiple tasks
- Must be outgoing and a proven self-starter
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and proper insurance coverage for business related travel.
- Must be fluent in English.
