Position Purpose
Donor Eligibility Technicians communicate and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to implement and ensure all relevant and available documentation is correct and timely for Donor Eligibility Coordinators to review. The Donor Eligibility department ensures that all Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA), and Lions World Vision Institute (LWVI) standards are met prior to distribution of cornea tissue for transplant, research, and/or medical education.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform QC review of all relevant donor paperwork and conduct necessary followup as needed.
- Perform necessary communication with team members, eye, tissue, and organ partners regarding followup items and serology testing.
- Enter data relevant to medical records, screening, disease testing, cell evaluations, and tissue receipts.
- Perform laboratory functions related to donor screening including blood specimen processing, coordinating sample pickup, and logging in donor tissue and blood samples.
- Request records from medical facilities and ensure timely receipt, following up if necessary.
- Coordinate and perform package pick up, deliveries, and overall shipping logistics.
- Complete serology triage, blood shipment accessioning/packaging, and review serology paperwork.
- Collaborate positively and effectively with donation partners to coordinate joint recovery, processing, and infectious disease testing activities.
- Track and complete autopsy/pathology result followup for applicable donor records.
- Performs other projects and duties as assigned.
- Support the Mission, Vision, and Values of Lions World Vision Institute in all daily activities.
- Must be able to work long hours, nights, and weekends when needed.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a health/science or related field preferred.
- Experience in a laboratory setting preferred.
- Experience in an office environment preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Qualified applicants must have a valid driver's license, and be eligible to meet the company’s driving standards.
- Proficient in working with computers, experience with Microsoft Suite is a plus!
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, critical thinking, and problemsolving skills.
- Commitment to quality, doublechecking work, fixing own/others’ mistakes.
- Able to prioritize multiple tasks and work within short/varied timelines.
- Understanding of and adherence to safety, regulatory, and confidentiality guidelines.
- Adapt to updating processes while meeting organizational needs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to collaborate effectively and contribute to a positive teamwork environment.
- Ability to learn and work both independently, and as part of a team.
Schedule and Travel
Travel is minimal. Rarely required to travel by personal or company vehicle or air to meeting sites, package pick/drop off, and other locations.
This position works a schedule of 8 or 10-hour shifts and will include weekends and holidays, either on a scheduled or rotating basis.
Work Environment
The work is performed primarily in an office setting. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
