Adjunct Faculty, Library (specialization in Digital and AI Literacy preferred)
The primary responsibilities of library adjunct faculty are the delivery of library and information services. To fulfill this responsibility, library adjunct faculty will foster students’ critical thinking and problem-solving abilities through instruction sessions. Provide reference, library instruction, and information resources to students, faculty, staff and community residents. Adjunct faculty librarians also serve as liaison to one or more academic divisions and assists in collection development to maintain the collection as a useful resource that supports the curriculum.
LCCC recognizes AI as a valuable educational resource while also maintaining our commitment to academic integrity and student learning. We encourage candidates to apply who have experience or interest in specializing and helping to shape the library’s role in Digital and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Fluency. Qualified candidates may collaborate with key stakeholders across the college supporting holistic academic and student support (e.g. Writing Center, student tech support). The Librarian may also partner with Faculty Fellows in the Teaching and Learning Center and the AI Teaching and Learning Taskforce to help guide and foster students’ critical thinking, digital literacy, and effective, ethical, and responsible use of generative AI and other emerging technologies.
Required Qualifications:
ALA accredited Master’s degree in library science or information science.
Knowledge of current trends in information literacy
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to maintain a close working liaison with faculty and staff.
Ability to conduct library instruction and reference services virtually and face-to-face.
Preferred Qualifications:
Reference, teaching, and academic library experience
Experience in a two-year college
Knowledge of generative artificial intelligence tools, AI literacy concepts, and the ethical, legal, and pedagogical considerations associated with AI use in education.
Demonstrated knowledge of information literacy, digital literacy, and emerging instructional technologies in higher education.
Experience supporting topics such as: information evaluation, digital or technology fluency, academic integrity, responsible AI use.
