Job Summary/Basic Functions
To perform basic level food service preparation duties within a food service operation. Under close instruction and supervision from the Food Service Specialist 5 and Director of Dining Services, the incumbent in this position will perform support service duties within the Cafeteria. In addition, the incumbent is expected to be fully knowledgeable about and comply with the policies, procedures, calendar of events, and deadlines of the retail operation as established by the Director of the individual Auxiliary Enterprises' section. The incumbent is also expected to protect the interest and/or assets of the cafeteria and thus the State of Louisiana.

LSU Health New Orleans Division of Auxiliary Enterprises/Dining Services is seeking motivated applicants for the position of Food Service Specialist 1, 2 or 3.
Must be able to work in a standing position for up to 8 hours a day and lift up to 75 lbs. on a daily basis.
Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Cashier for cafe, kiosk and dental school (if needed)
- Preparing/Serving Items from the grill station or serving food from the hotline
- Take orders, make coffee beverages in coffee kiosk (if needed)
- Performs duties that involve the cleaning and sanitation of the food service area
- Helps with assembly and transport of food to and from food service areas
- Stocking of storage areas upon delivery of inventory
- Other basic kitchen duties as instructed by supervisors
Minimum Qualifications
Number of years required to perform the job: 0 for FSS1, 6 months FSS 2 and 1 year FSS 3
Type of experience required to perform the job: Six months of food service experience in a food service operation; OR
Six months of training in food technology, food service management, or in a food service-related curriculum in a trade school or technical institute; OR
Six semester hours in food and nutrition, dietetics, food service preparation, home economics, or hotel, food service, restaurant, or institutional management.

- This is a Civil Service Position.
- This position does not require applicants to take a Civil Service test.
- Pre-employment Drug testing and Criminal Background check are required.

- This position will require selected applicant to be in a probationary status for at least 6 months.
Starting rate is $10.00 per hour for a Food Service Specialist 1 with an additional $1.20 per hours worked. FSS 2 $10.70 and FSS 3 $12.25. There is also an additional $1 Longevity Pay for hours worked only.
