The per diem outpatient Cardiologist works with Marin Community Clinics in a multidisciplinary team providing high-quality, accessible care to underserved populations. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background in cardiology and a passion for community health, prevention, and chronic disease management.
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive outpatient cardiology care, including evaluation, diagnosis, and management of cardiovascular conditions.
- Interpret EKGs and integrate results of diagnostic testing in treatment planning.
- Collaborate with primary care providers and other specialists to coordinate patient care.
- Educate primary care and other referring physicians in cardiovascular care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and population health strategies.
- Educate patients and families on cardiovascular health, lifestyle modifications, and treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Supervise and mentor medical students, residents, or fellows if applicable.
- Ability to meet or exceed minimum productivity standards of eight patients per half day through flexible, hybrid scheduling.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Knowledge of current evidence-based principles, methods, and procedures for the delivery of medical care in area of licensure and Board certification.
- Ability to deliver care via telephonic or video telemedicine visits, as necessary.
- Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care.
- Knowledge of relevant pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatments and the ability to prescribe and instruct patients in correct usage of medications.
- Knowledge of community diagnostic and patient care services in area of medical expertise.
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to work evening and morning shifts as needed.
- Valid and unrestricted license issued by the Medical Board of California to practice medicine.
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
- Board certified or Board Eligible in Specified of Cardiology
- 3-5 years of related experience in outpatient cardiology preferred; new graduates with strong interest in community health are welcome.
- Current registration issued by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) allowing the prescription of drugs.
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
- EPIC Electronic Health Records (EHR) experiences a plus.
- Fulfill immunization and fit for duty regulatory requirements.
- Prolonged standing, walking, and prolonged sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up-to 25 lbs. and move medical equipment.
- Fine motor hand movements typical of performing standard clinical job duties.
- Vision and hearing, sufficient to view, hear and interpret clinical data and physical exam findings.
