We're looking for an enthusiastic and relationship-driven Assistant Softball Coach who is passionate about developing student-athletes, building a competitive NCAA Division II program, and creating an exceptional student experience.

What You'll Do
As Assistant Softball Coach, you'll partner closely with the Head Softball Coach to support all aspects of a successful NCAA Division II Softball program. You'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by:
- Coaching and developing student-athletes through practices, individual instruction, competition, and mentorship.
- Recruiting talented prospective student-athletes who align with the university's academic and athletic mission.
- Assisting with scouting, game planning, film review, and competitive preparation.
- Supporting day-to-day program operations, including team travel, equipment, camps, scheduling, and administrative responsibilities.
- Building meaningful relationships with student-athletes, families, alumni, and the broader community.
- Representing Maryville University with professionalism while ensuring compliance with all NCAA, conference, and university policies.
What You Bring
Successful candidates will bring a passion for collegiate athletics along with the ability to build strong relationships and contribute to a positive team culture.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Six (6) or more years of high-level coaching and/or playing experience.
- Knowledge of softball coaching techniques, player development, and recruiting strategies.
- Understanding of NCAA rules and regulations with a commitment to compliance.
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to mentor and positively influence student-athletes both on and off the field.
- Willingness to travel and work evenings, weekends, and other hours necessary to support the competitive season.

Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to actively participate in softball practices, competitions, camps, and recruiting activities. Responsibilities include demonstrating softball techniques, consistently hitting infield and outfield fungos, lifting and transporting equipment up to 30 pounds, frequent travel, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Evening, weekend, holiday, and extended seasonal hours may be required.

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $36,000 annually
- Actual compensation will be commensurate with education, experience, skills, internal equity, and market considerations.
